Offlineoh yeah of course…I have one friend from back east, an old college buddy of mine who lives out here, over in San Fran. When he found out i'd quit smoking weed, he just about pee'd himself. He's was like let me get this straight you're moving to ground zero of dang near legal weed and the highest quality at that and you QUIT? Are you insane? Apparently I am.

OfflineI hear pooh got busted for for trying to smuggle in some Mexican Gold Honey across the boarder back in '68. He's doing a life sentance in a federal prison. His cell mate is Smoky the Bear. Yeah thats right. They didn't call hime smoky cause he was trying to prevent forest fires.

OfflineOh and while here, let me just send an ultra special thank you out there to Spike Lee for speaking out against vigilanteism (in regards to the Trayvon/Zimmerman mess down in Florida) and then promptly tweeting out the WRONG address for someone ELSE named Zimmerman who lives in the same town. He's since apologized publically and privately to the 70+ year old couple who were forced to leave their home fearing for their lives…after their lawyer got a fat check from him no doubt. Stick to making your crappy films, numb nuts, and leave the more complicated social issues and problems to the adults.

OfflineNot sure how many of you are aware of this story, but I found it particularly offensive because my old high school was in the town where this happened. Basically an autistic child was bullied by his teacher and one of her aides….check it out and do what you think is right…

OfflineHopefully, this will result in a lawsuit against at least the teacher, and if they are not ultimately fired, then maybe even the school system in that area itself. I would pursue it until this person no longer worked with children of any sort. Totally sickening!
The father says he's not interested in $$$ only a public apology from the teacher and aides in question AND for the teaching license to be lifted from these people. It appears that the Cherry Hill school district is playing the Catholic Church "shell game" where they are attempting to shuffle this teacher around in the school district, they fired the aide outright. They (CH school district) are trying to say that if the teacher wasn't there so how could she be responsible for things that happened in the classroom outside of her knowledge. The father is trying to say that as the teacher, the prevailing attitude/atmosphere is set by HER so she has a certain amount of responsibility for what goes on in her classroom whether she's there or not. It's just so underhanded and slimy.
As I mentioned, Cherry Hill is not too far from where I grew up and it is, for the most part, a fairly affluent area (or at least it used to be) and getting teaching jobs in that school district is VERY desireable (sp?), so I can't imagine that they are "hurting" for applicants seeking positions. Of course it's probably harder to get teachers for special needs children, Heidi could probably speak more to that than I ever could. I have a friend that used to teach developmentally challenged kids and she was constantly in school to keep her accredition/education up to snuff to continue teaching in NJ.
IMHO it's hard enough to find people who want to teach, but those who choose to follow the special needs educator route I have mad respect because it IS so demanding. These "people" in Cherry Hill (and I use that term VERY loosely) are animals and should be punished accordingly…I don't know that CRIMINAL charges AREN'T appropriate in this situation. To bully kids is bad enough, but these children are the ones that need protection the most, because they're so much more vulnerable….shame on them, all of them, it's a shame they can't brand these savages….

OfflineI know that special ed is a dept that is looking for teachers. It takes special training and not many young people are going into that part of teaching. As for the paras (they are not "aides") the burn out rate in intensive classrooms is very high. I was once offered a job in one. Its more pay but I knew I could never last. I am on my 3rd year with an autistic child the stress is overwhelming at times. For me for the other paras for the teachers. But we know when and were to vent and its NEVER around the kids.
