OfflineI was thrilled at how well they told the Wellington story.
It was a really nice piece on Wellington, I'm glad your happy with it, you should be very proud.
The show and you did a great job!
I had this set on my dvr and watched it late last night, I do love history and have worn the history channel out.
I saw you ( didn't know you'd be on) and started jumping around like a crazy women.
The historical reenactment was very nicely done, and much enjoyed your explanation at the museum.
The travel channel for the show has a link for the museum. Where do they keep the back plates for the sconces?
Was much recovered from the wreckage for an exhibit?
This is a very well done show and a breath of fresh air for history buffs.
What a great vehicle for you to get the peoples story of Wellington out!

OfflineI have to admit, I think I sound like an idiot on the radio as well. Cheryl assures me I do not. Maybe our perceptions of how we look/sound are not very realistic.
I think you did a great job on the TV Karen, and I personally think you, and Rick I guess (j/k Rick!), do an awesome job on the radio show each week.

OfflineThe show will be on again tomorrow night at 7 PM and 10 PM Eastern on the Travel Channel (November 11).
The show is Volume 2. It is the show that has the LaBrea Tarpits and the UFOs on it. The Wellington segment appears at about :20 or so past the hour – maybe a bit later.
Symp – to answer your question – the sconces are actually in the Museum's archive and not on display. One of the amazing things for me was getting to look at and hold those artifacts from the train. I've seen a few artifacts down in the ravine at Wellington, but mostly scrap metal from the outside of the train. The archive was incredible. Jim, Tanner and I were given somewhat free run of the archive as long as we touched nothing and had a curator following us. I was actually more excited about poking around in the archives and having that kind of access than I was doing the show! They had Rube Goldberg devices, an old 1800s diving suit complete with shoe weights and a wooden air tank, Native American longboats, cannon balls and other missiles, a whole collection of Seattle Supersonics stuff, and amazing things from Seattle's Maritime history. Honestly – it was just fantastic. An amazing place, and I'm so grateful I got to do it!

??? see you did it again ??? /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

I saw the epi last night and started laughing when I realized that Jay Thomas was the narrator! He was on Howard Stern's show on Sirius/Xm radio 2 weeks ago promoting the program, but I only caught a couple snippets of the interview. For the record Whammies, you did….
Now I have an embarrasing confession to make. All I really knew about the story was that it involved snow, trains and people dying PERIOD. So only having the barest bones knowledge, I found the segment to be not only compelling but also informative. Your passion for the subject was CLEARLY evident and you were succinct (sp?) and very polished! GOOD ON YOU!
