As I enter my golden years, I think sometimes that I wish that I were a young tot again. I enjoyed the magic of Halloween, Christmas and the Easter bunny. Back then it was all magical to me. I looked forward to those magical days when I was so young and very happy so long ago. I had no worries back then. Mom and Dad took over all of the worries. Halloween, Christmas and Easter are just not the same anymore for me. Just anther day that has no meaning for me. Thanksgiving is coming up but it will just be another day for me. The magical moments of all of those days are long gone for me. I am not depressed in any sense. I just wish that I were a young tot again who could go back to those magical days of Santa Claus, the Easter bunny, going trick or treating for candy and family gathered around the Thanksgiving table. I still have many memories of those magical days long gone. Oh to be young again and relive those magical moments.

I hear ya nightwatcher. I try and do something special on some holidays to bring back some of that magic. But it's not quite the same …

I was just thinking about this the other day. I definitely believe (with a nod to George Bernard Shaw) youth is wasted on the young.

I am looking back on my early life and how little I knew when I was so very young. I recall having this fascination about airplanes. I was maybe 7 years old or maybe younger and I remember looking under the hood of our 1951 Plymouth and seeing that fan blade spinning. I figured that the fan blade was what caused the car to move like the propeller of an airplane. I remember an elderly neighbor telling me that he once was a small boy like me. I had no concept of people aging way back then. I figured that old people were always old and that I would always be a little boy. I have done some really not so smart things when I was a little tot. I can remember some things back decades ago to when I was about 3 years old. It was nice being a little child.
