The reason the 9ml has room for so many rounds is because you need more opportunity to stop your target! (The Big Wolf and I discussed this last night while watching a show on the evolution of the handgun) 6 rounds from a .45 is more effective than 13 from a 9ml anyday!

Ryan, congratulations and I echo the sentiment from others to be safe on the job!

(of course, a .38 is my FAVORITE pick over any!)

Only advantage is more rounds with the 9mm. But I prefer the relaibilty of the old six shooter.

my Dad always preferred .38s...he said he'd been in too many situations with partners that preferred automatics that always seemed to jam in the clutch.

Good luck Ryan! My husband started out as a reserve officer too. He now runs the investigation division for the fort (federal). He loves it. You will see more of the dark side of human nature but there will many opportunities to do good. Stay safe out there!!!
