I spent Thanksgiving eve morning dashing from store to store picking up the various things I'll need for my contribution to the meal (my mac n cheese, bread, and of course booze). I also made a new three disc collection of Xmas songs for a co worker who asked. The set list I'll post later on. So it's 6:30am and I'm about to print up the football lines for Monkette and myself (and anyone else who wishes to bet the games with us today), before heading on over to the bike and doing about an hour or so there. Then it's off to Monkette's parents' place (just down the way a bit) to start helping cleaning, prepping and cooking. We're not doing turkey this year, but instead are doing ham and a couple of Nicaraguan specialties....most notably a shredded meat and cabbage w/egg meal, to be served with some of their awesome choritzos and cheese "dumplings" that they do. I'm sure we'll be busting out a ceviche or the fresh salad they're partial to (it's a shredded cabbage and onion salad, with diced tomatos and radishes, with some sea salt and fresh lemon juice). There will be tons of Coors light and Sol beer on ice, bought 2 bottles of tequila, we've got tons of rum and I've already pre-made two pitchers of Dancing Monkey for the ladies. It should be really intense.

As far as football goes....

I'm taking the Packers giving 6 to the Lions (12:30 ET), as much as it galls me Dallas giving Miami 7 (4:15 ET....I don't trust the Cowboys, in the past they've always managed to cover, but we'll see. Much like the Eagles and the NYJets, i think they are WAY over hyped) and I'm going to have to go with the 49ers getting 3.5 at Ravens.

I'd also like to take this moment to wish Milo a happy birthday as I know it falls around thanksgiving!

The Big Wolf and I have decided to forgo our ritual trip to the mountain getaway this year due to a heightened awareness of the importance of family caused by the passing of his mother. We are having dinner with our families this year.

I invite everyone to give extra hugs, hold more hands, kiss more cheeks. Our time together is short in this lifetime. Make the most of it. Always sounded cliche to me before, now I will scream it from the mountain top: If you love someone, tell them every chance you get.

I value the relationships I have on this forum and hope they continue for years to come.

Enjoy your loved ones, eat lots and if you are travelling I wish you a very safe trip "over the river and through the woods"!
