Well, it's spring break for most schools and colleges here in Texas and I managed to get most of it off from work. Tomorrow morning I am taking my eight year old son Connor on his first real camping trip. We are heading off to Lake Mineral Wells State Park at dawn. We are camping overnight and return Monday afternoon. Try not to have withdraws people while I am gone. Also I figure while I'm gone the last thread will be locked and Atheist dude will return. We are going hiking, a little bit of rock climbing and he is going to learn some skills out in the woods.

Also since I will be in Mineral Wells, I'm going to go check out the Baker Hotel. I wrote an article about it last year and I am going to snoop around and have a look at it. No paranormal teams have been allowed in the hotel for years now and we have been trying ourselves. We thought we had a shot since we knew someone that has a connection with the Baker but it didn't work out.

Later this week I will be taking both boys out to some local places like a museum or two and let them have some fun. Other than that not much else is planned.

So what you are doing for spring break?

Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they:

(1) eat less,

(2) don’t ask for money all the time,

(3) are easier to train,

(4) normally come when called,

(5) never ask to drive the car,

(6) don’t smoke or drink,

(7) don’t want to wear your clothes,

(8) don’t have to buy the latest fashions,

(9) don’t need a gazillion dollars for college and

(10) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children ..

At least you're working. Every morning I get up and Monkette and I have jobs, I'm thrilled.

I will be taking a guardian ad litem class, and both boys have different spring breaks, so we're sticking close to home.

Trust me … I'm appreciative, just a bit tired.

No spring break for us. When we were kids, we got a week off for February vacation and a week off for April vacation. I never even heard of spring break until the crazy movies and girls gone wild videos started coming out. I was a sheltered girl I guess! Have fun with the kids and camping, Ryan! Caligirl, be patient, your break is on the horizon!

Just got back to the hotel. I had a good time. Connor says he did but not in a thrilled tone.

I snapped about a dozen pictures of the Baker Hotel and I'm going to look through them later. I couldn't get out of the vehicle at all really to take the pictures and the place is boarded up so no one can get in. I think I did see a place to sneak in if I ever want to do that but I don't. It's a beautiful place and I hope the city can get it fixed up and re-open it to the public.

Went to California for my kid's Spring Break. Hadn't been back in years. Great to see the family. Went up to the place where I grew up and went to school to show my kids why their Mom is so demented. /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Everyone was telling me how much it has changed since I left, but I didn't think so. I stood outside of my Mom's condo that is about a block and a half from the beach and just breathed in the sea air for about an hour. AHHHHH good to be home.. Went to the beach the next day even though they had the Tsunami warning. Even took the ferry to balboa island. Then off to Rogers gardens…I love that place.

I head to the beach each time I go home, too. To breathe in the ocean air and feel the rumble of the waves really grounds me and allows me to rercharge. I always like to visit all my old stomping grounds. I especially can't believe how dangerous some of the neighborhoods are that I used to work in. I was pretty fearless back in the day, saying "good morning" or "hey, get the hell away from my car" to crack heads and prostitutes. The midwest is certainly safer but I do so miss the beach.
