I can't tell you how many times I've re-written this post I'm so dang aggravated by the Phillies. Here are bullet points for my disgust at the Sillies performance yesterday.

1) Why would you take Pedro out when his pitch count was less then 85 pitches and the hardest thing hit by the Dodgers all day was Russell Martin getting hit by Pedro? As an older player Pedro can't pitch as effectively in the colder climates so if the Phillies manage to make it to the next round the only way he comes into the picture again is if the Angels get to the series. I'm hoping that's not the case but that's the feeling I get. Charlie Manuel proved himself wise for starting Pedro, but then trumped his brilliance by yanking him too soon.

2)What is the deal w/Utley & J-Roll? They picked a hell of a time to unravel defensively….it's like watching Dave Hollins all over again…WTF?

3) I have to spread some of the blame onto Reuben Amaro Jr. for the most painful part of this….Padilla (a former Phillie)was essentially out of baseball when the Dodgers picked him up. He's in a contract year which usually means, the player will bust his butt going above and beyond to secure a new deal. When Texas dumped him (for a myriad of reasons) the Phillies were deep in their bullpen issues. Tyler Walker has NO PLACE on a major league roster yet he continues to infect our roster w/his incompetent presence..the Nationals wouldn't pick him up. When Padilla played for the Phillies before it wasn't this roster, i think Rollins may be the lone holdover from those teams. I don't get it.

This one really hurt and I'm saddened not only because they lost, but the horrific manner in which it happened.

***In a side note and I hate to sound bitter, but, once again, the Yankees get the prime tv spot. The Phils will have to go up against Football tomorrow while the Yankees continue to enjoy the excellent prime time slots on Friday and Saturday night. /angry.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

I also expect the Phillies management to compensate me for the expense of Just For Men which I will SURELY NEED when the season runs it's course. I think Mitch Williams said it best in his MLB channel coverage of the playoffs. something to the effect of watching Lidge is starting to look dangerously close to watching film of himself in that '93 run***

You hit the nail on the head.

All I can say, literally, is WTF??

I agree with BornAware. Monk, ya nailed it.

The weather here just sucks, mid 40's the high, rainy and windy since Thursday. Big chance they won't play Sunday. We won't be out of this odd weather funk until Tuesday.

Well, Cole's wife had their baby last Friday. A new baby changes everything, hope he has the focus.

I bleed red.

I'm sorry for all you philly fans, but as a life-long dodger fan, it was a happy ending for me. LOL

However, going ahead in the game based on a walk doesn't feel like an outstanding win.

I'm actually more sad that the Angels lost than I am happy that the Dodgers won. Go figure. /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

For the record I'm taking complete blame for the eagles vapor lock against the raiders on Sunday…i had monkette create some art that was ummm kind of scatological involving the eagles and raiders logos. So I take full blame for the loss as it would appear I jinxed them sooooo It's my fault Philly sports fans don't blame the team!

I'm glad the Angels won, too.

Not a fan of the Yankees or Mets!

These games are gonna be the death of me yet.

Last year my hair turned white!

The Phills now have me using a walker.

By Wednesday night, I may need Jazzy Power Wheels. /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Hey MK, if it makes you feel any better, I think the series should actually be 3-0 Angels were it not for the errors and the Yankees are one of those teams that makes you pay heavy when mistakes are made!

Doesn't quite make me feel better. hehe, but thanks for trying.

Angels should indeed be up 3-0, but hey, they didn't cash in their chances to score many times in game 2 and the errors also killed them. If they don't get this game 3 (they are currently losing 3-0) I don't see a happy ending for the Angels.

Like you said, if you give make one mistake against the Yankees, you're usually DONE!

Another thoroughly depressing Angels game!

Oh, and thanks Manny for supporting your team til the end! You ****!

Manny: I was in the shower when Phils came back

PHILADELPHIA – Those who watched the ninth inning of Game 4 in the National League Championship Series won't soon forget it.

Manny Ramirez wasn't one of those people.

When asked prior to Tuesday's workout how surprised he was to see Jimmy Rollins beat the Dodgers with a walk-off double into the right-center gap the night before, Ramirez said he was in the shower at the time.

"When I came out, they were turning the TVs off and everybody was coming in," Ramirez said.

Philadelphia's 5-4 victory gave the Phillies a 3-1 series lead and put Los Angeles on the brink of elimination.

Ramirez started the game in left field and went 1-for-4 with two runs scored before Juan Pierre replaced him for defensive purposes.

Los Angeles manager Joe Torre wasn't surprised or upset that his star player didn't watch the conclusion of Monday's game.

"Manny has so much confidence," Torre said. "When we get a lead late in the game, and I've taken him out, whether it be for defense or we have a big lead, when we go up to shake hands after the game, he's in his street clothes.

"So, it's really nothing different than he's done before. I don't think it's disrespect or anything. He wasn't going anywhere until the game was over, and we can't put him back in the game."

It's just Manny being Manny!!! Enjoy!!!

/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Baseball players don't exactly have a reputation for being overly cerebral no matter what the media tries to spin atcha and this is a classic example of that. Even if that's what you would normally do, don't admit it to the media, just the toe the company line use the bilingual sports cliche handbook and hunker down for the next game. A thoughtful person would have realized AND APPRECIATED the level of commitment and support he's rcv'd from not only the organization but also the fan base during this PR nightmare of a season.
