To make matters worse, Ryan Howard blew out his achillies tendon on the last out of the game. Aaaaah the sublte masochistic joys of being a philadelphia sports fan. And he's just at the beginning of that long deal they signed him to a year or so ago. He will most likely not be healed by spring training and I can guarantee that by the time he IS ready to play, he STILL won't be able to hit a breaking ball or have the common sense when NOT to swing…ie 3-0 count and needing base runners.

Here's what I'll predict is going to happen, they'll lose Ibanez, Rollins, Madsen and in all likelihood Oswalt too. Chances are the Yankees will pick up Oswalt as they are desperate for starters. Charlie Manuel will NOT get another contract beyond this end of his contract so the 2012 season will in all likelihood be his last. More then the players, I blame Charlie for this epic failure and I think the fans will too. His refusal to keep some of these guys on a tighter leash really drove me crazy. Like letting these guys steal bases at key moments on the game when THEY NEED RUNS against one of the better throwing catchers in either league. DUMB. Like leaving pitchers in when they were clearly running out of gas (Cliff Lee). They way he burned through the bullpen of younger players who weren't used to a long MLB season (Bastardo and Stutes). Mismanagement. The way I see it the obvious needs they have going forward will be outfielder (I would suggest either Kubel or Cuddyer from the Twins), probably first baseman to cover for Ryan Howard (can someone PLEASE give Jermaine Dye's agent a call), shortstop (please no Reyes) and bullpen help. Heath Bell is out there but I'm sure others will be gunning for him as well as Javier Lopez and Sergio Romo from the SF Giants. Watching the Phillies this year in the playoffs was like watching the SF Giants before they landed a bunch of retreads in 2010 who all had career years at the same time. The Phillies couldn't hit when it counted and I'm sorry, but to lose the playoff because you couldn't score two runs when you left so many guys on base, no excuse.

I'm still disgusted to the point of not even wanting to watch baseball anymore and I'm a huge fan…thank goodness for hockey season.

Good News: The Rangers won, The Irish won, Baylor won and even the Cowboys are going to win today.

Bad news: I have to work tonight.

Plus we are getting rain.

I totally agree with ya. I'm still in mourning, and stopped watching baseball for the season, not like me at all.

Umm Charlie was a hitting coach, wish at times he would of remembered, where he came from.

Next year, I don't know what to think with the players leaving. I hate to think these last few years may have been as good as it gets.

The Eagles suck, and Hockey seems to be the game to drown my sorrows.

I actually think the Phillies will be okay for next year, not great okay. I think they'll take major steps back in defense, but they're going to have to do some very serious thought into free agents. If Furcal is available and Rollins is out of reach, I'd love to see the Phillies get him. Until the World Series is over, i'm going to take a wait and see attitude. It took me awhile to get into it but I began watching games again. I don't like Tony LaRussa, never have, but I don't have a beef with SL CArdinals. So I WILL be cheering for them in the World Series, I guess. I don't have a REAL problem cheering for either team, but it'll be easier to cheer for the Cardinals knowing that they knocked the phillies out and went on to win it all. Don't like it, but easier to handle.

Congrats to the Cards AND the Rangers.

I am intensely pleased that the Brewers fell flat on their faces. I don't care for smack talkers and poor sportsmanship and the Brewers have two of the biggest offenders when it comes to that stuff….Nyger Morgan and Prince Fielder. In Morgan's case, he's been a REAL jerk everywhere he's gone. He was booted by Pirates (who are consistantly the worse team around) and traded to the Nationals where he proceeded to make a ton of bad mistakes in the outfield and then started huge brawls against the Cardinals if i'm not mistaken and threw things in to the stands in Philly getting into a fight there too. Then he gets traded to the Brewers (perhaps a free agent pick up?) and basically picks up where he left off more fights with the Cardinals and then gets into it with the fans in centerfield in San Fran. Do you have ANY IDEA how big a jerk you have to be to get the Fans in San Fran mad enough to throw things at you while your in the field? But then he called Albert Pujols "Alberta" and talking all this trash. He's got an alter ego named "Tony Plush"??? Then when the Brewers clinch he does it naturally and he's mugging it up and trying to get in the camera as his teammates attempt to talk to the reporters on field. When HIS turn comes up he makes the reporter wait while he runs around making faces and striking poses to the fans then walks over to her for abot 10 seconds and stomps away to the clubhouse….A- HOLE. Prince Fielder is a very polarizing figure for me. I've gone on record as saying if either of my teams of rooting interest (The Phillies or SF Giants) pick him up I will gather up ALL my team swag douse it in gasoline and burn it while publically renoucing any allegiance to the team for the duration of his tenure with them. I loathe him THAT MUCH. I've never seen a bigger poor sport, in any sport as him. His showing up the other teams with his displays at home plate, watching his homeruns and his blatant efforts at running over other teams players on the base paths when he's clearly bigger then almost everyone else out there (except maybe Pablo Sandoval) with the intent to injure. His tantrums he throws, I'm thinking specifically of his attempting to get into another teams clubhouse/lockerroom to get at a pitcher who hit him accidently during the game (which they lost by the way). And he's not the only person on that team like that, Casey Macghee is the same way. Goodnight Brewers enjoy the offseason.

The Cards actually did it. Wow.

Imagine there's no heaven, it's easy if you try.

Game 7 was anti climatic after all the high drama of game 6…off the chain. But isn't that always the way? If the Cardinals didn't win then it really lessens what happened in Game 6, it was the proverbial sealing of the deal! And I thought only Philadelphia teams grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory…

The Detroit Lions have really turned it around this year.

They are currently blowing Denver out of the water 45-3 (oops, now it is 45-9).

I am happy for the long suffering Lion fans, but their head coach is sort of whiny little punk.

Maybe this should be in the "moment of silence" forum, but Penn State Icon JoPa's legacy is dead.

Either location works….what a completely repulsive story on so many levels, it's not just JoePa it's the whole school that's tainted. They said the school's value is going to be devalued over this and as a state university wait until the lawsuits start rolling in…we may be watching the death knell of Penn State period.

I want to do some investigating into the disappearance of the DA in this case from 2005 who is presumed dead and his work and home computers were missing…they were found some time later in a creek with the hard drives seperated from the pcs themselves. There's just so much weirdness and contradictions happening all over the place…this is only going to get much much worse before it gets better. Didn't this perv have an autobiography called "Touched"?

No his next one should be called "I'm a complete piece of **** and should kill myself for all the harm I've done to others". I think a Promethian punishment, like he should be repeatedly raped in the shower by the other inmates, be admitted to the infirmiry to endure painful surgery sans anesthesia to stitch him back up, just to have it happen all over again the next day…until he finally dies or kills himself…but that's just me, I'm an emotional person

You know what? That's not good enough, he should retire NOW! Ignorance is no excuse in this case, not calling the cops when this guy was still around campus when there was THE SLIGHTEST SUSPICION….NOT acceptable.

Now it remains to be seen what further punishment is meted out by the school/state towards him/them. If this is ALL that goes down, he would've gotten off light.
