I'm glad the Angels won, too.

Not a fan of the Yankees or Mets!

These games are gonna be the death of me yet.

Last year my hair turned white!

The Phills now have me using a walker.

By Wednesday night, I may need Jazzy Power Wheels. /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Okay I didn't want to jinx the Phils but I think Manny is a very LAZY, selfish player. He's already got his rings and is now getting paid in what will probably be the last contract of his career (I believe he's in his late 30s). Now that the microscope of scrutiny is upon him concerning PEDs his career may be over sooner then projected. Now mind you, Manny isn't the only one who has followed this route (rings then pursue the $$$) and I've got no problem w/that, but when you get to the postseason you've got to use your vetern experience to guide the younger players who are a little green still! I just don't think Manny is that guy. I'm saddened for the Dodger faithful who've been sold a bill of goods w/this guy, but refused to see the WHOLE picture w/him. Have heart Dodger fans, you've got an incredible core of YOUTHFUL talent that is just starting to come into it's own….your dynasty is coming sooner then later so hang in there!!

But in the meantime, go Phillies!!!

Well said Monk. I agree with you 100%.

Congrats to phillies fans, and I'm still holding out hope . . . phillies/angels. Hey! It could happen! /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Thanks, I just thought the whole Manny shower comment spoke volumes to the kind of teammate he REALLY is. He went through what could best be described as a public relations NIGHTMARE of a season YET the fan base, the front office and his teammates stood by/up for him. It's a shame he has so little regard for anyone but himself. Listen dude, bust out the very dogeared bilingual sports cliche qoute book and be a loyal teammate. While the game of baseball is trumpeted as being the "thinking man's game", the folks that play it aren't exactly lengthening the line at the MENSA registration office and Manny is living proof. What's the old saying? It's better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you're dumb then open your mouth and confirm their beliefs. It's shameful.

Now MK, I think the only "rough" patch the Dodgers will face is coming this off season when the McCourt's go through their divorce. The Dodgers may NOT have the $$$ they need to retain or sign new talent. Just look at the Mets. The owner of the Mets not only got ripped off to the tune of half a BILLION dollars in the Madoff scheme but now is being sued for taking about $48 million out illegally and is going to court over compensation to others from that sum. Now while the Wilpons (sp?) have denied that the initial loss will not effect the teams finances I can only ask how does it NOT?

Oh the tangled web. I'm praying for the Angels for your sake, i'm just thrilled to be in the world series again

Yes, it is sad the selfishness and one-man-show mentality of some players. Boggles my mind, that's for sure.

Well, unless the team falls completely apart next year, they'll be OK . . . famous last words. LOL

I would be surprised if they didn't. And at least the Phills will give them a run for their money.

Hey MK, I saw some of the Angels game last night and I was worried for your guys for a minute. Lackey sure has a temper on him. /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

I hope they can push through and make a showing for themselves, they have to be pretty good to make it this far.

Good Luck!

Lackey's a competitor, that's for sure, and he definitely wanted to close out that inning!

Being the only team with a winning record against the Yankees in recent years, I think the Angels still have a shot!

(Since 1996, the Angels are 79-66 against the Yankees, including playoff series in 2002 and 2005 when they eliminated the Yankees in the first round each time. No other American League team has a winning record against the Yankees in that time.)

Of course, that was then and this is now. lol

The league just announced that w/the exception of the crew chief umping the Yanks/angels series ONLY crew chiefs will be considered for the World Series. It's been the policy to include a few young umps to get their feet wet for the big stage but after the debacles going on in the league series' this year they've gone this way instead.

I think this offseason needs to see some major overhauls to the league and it's policies. Here are some bullet points that need to be addressed IMHO:

- Replay (especially in reg season division games and certainly in the playoffs)

- In a similar move, a merit system for the umpires. I can't think of another job (except maybe US politics) where there's no ACCOUNTABILITY/RESPONSIBILITY for mistakes made. That should change immediately. If a crew chief makes a bunch of questionable calls…lose your status as the chief. I also think the umpires need some anger management classes or at the very least to have their union broken. These guys THINK they are bigger then the game.

- While I think the inclusion of a wild card team is cool, the extra round of playoffs force the world series into NOVEMBER! Either cut down the spring training, regular season or smarten up and adapt the playoffs so that there aren't as many ill placed days off. For instance, instead of having a game friday, mlb has to compete w/college football on a saturday, not smart.

- Get rid of interleague play, i miss seeing all the non division teams in the league more then twice. It was neat initally, but that ship has sailed…

- Get rid of designated hitters, I think if a player cannot play the field, then he shouldn't bat. It worked in the little league and in the big leagues for a LOOOONG time. I think if a pitcher KNOWS he may have to bat, they'll learn control and respect his fellow players.

This is a personal peeve of mine….could MLB PLEASE get rid of Tim McCarver and Chris Berman from announcing games…they ruin the game…Chris Berman w/his schtick is annoying…he's doing his back back back crap and names stuff…hey baldy that was funny 20 years ago, get a new routine, you stink on ice! And McCarver is a pompous @$$. Any time he tries to come off like he knows what he's talking about I want all you baseball fans to remember this. Years ago when he was a catcher for the phillies, he came up in a key situation and hit a grand slam that would've given the Phils a leg up in the standing and put them in the playoffs. In his joy he passed another runner on the basepath which reduces the home run to a triple thus tying the game. The Phils wound up losing by a run instead of winning the game outright. Real mature Deion indeed. A mediocre player who got rings on the back of far superior players, which wouldn't be an issue if he didn't try to pass himself off as such a great thinker of game….whatta tool

Interesting thoughts monkey. I agree with most except the last two bullet points. I've actually come to enjoy interleague play, well mainly just when Angels/Dodgers play. . . haha. Also, the designated hitter just makes the game more exciting.

I really don't care for that announcing duo, and my son really can't stand them. LOL

I have issues with some of this also!

I'll vent about announcers for now.

Annoucers, are just annoying. /rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> May I suggest on the Tim menu, shutuptimmccarver.com.

My beloved Steve Carlton preferred McCarver over Boone. It was said when they die, Carlton and McCarver will be buried 60ft 6" apart.

I was always a Boone fan!

The Tim McCarver and Deion Sanders moment that stands out in my mind, was the buckets of water.

Tim's criticism of Deion playing football and baseball in the same day. Deion, dumping the buckets of water on Tim. Tim screaming at Deion, "Deion, you're a real man."

What a bunch of idiots and nut jobs! These two get on my nerves so bad!

Harry Kalas is so missed!

He was the man, and what a class act!

Go Angels!

Another thoroughly depressing Angels game!

Oh, and thanks Manny for supporting your team til the end! You ****!

Manny: I was in the shower when Phils came back

PHILADELPHIA – Those who watched the ninth inning of Game 4 in the National League Championship Series won't soon forget it.

Manny Ramirez wasn't one of those people.

When asked prior to Tuesday's workout how surprised he was to see Jimmy Rollins beat the Dodgers with a walk-off double into the right-center gap the night before, Ramirez said he was in the shower at the time.

"When I came out, they were turning the TVs off and everybody was coming in," Ramirez said.

Philadelphia's 5-4 victory gave the Phillies a 3-1 series lead and put Los Angeles on the brink of elimination.

Ramirez started the game in left field and went 1-for-4 with two runs scored before Juan Pierre replaced him for defensive purposes.

Los Angeles manager Joe Torre wasn't surprised or upset that his star player didn't watch the conclusion of Monday's game.

"Manny has so much confidence," Torre said. "When we get a lead late in the game, and I've taken him out, whether it be for defense or we have a big lead, when we go up to shake hands after the game, he's in his street clothes.

"So, it's really nothing different than he's done before. I don't think it's disrespect or anything. He wasn't going anywhere until the game was over, and we can't put him back in the game."

MK, I agree with you about Manny, or any player who acts in this nature! I don't get why coaches, managers, or owners, of any team allow players to do these types things. I would not, they would all be equal, and treated the same, same rules for all!

I have not watched an Eagles game this year. Vick is a dog killer and animal abuser! I don't care if he was in jail or not. How in the hell, the Eagles took him on, is beyond me. I'm embarassed for Philadelphia. I support animal rights, they are helpless! Then we had T. O. /rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

Yup, then they won't let Pete Rose in the hall of fame because he gambled. Yes, it was wrong, but he was such a team player.

Go figure!

Seriously! What if all the players who weren't in the game went to shower? I'm sure THAT wouldn't be OK! /angry.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

Definitely some hypocritical things going on as far as rules across baseball applying only to certain players!

Yes, go Angels! hehe

Yup, I love to see the Angels win tonight. Being a Philly fan, I root for the under dog, Monk mentioned this in another thread.

I love to see the series played with the Angels and Phills for this reason.

It would be an anything can happen series, which would just simply be great baseball, regardless of who wins.
