This has been a pet-peeve of mine since forever but seems to be too common here in Michigan with patrons in restaurants blowing their nose at the table. Not being discreet about it at all, from dinners to five star establishments. I find it disgusting and very inconsiderate. It is something that really grates on me. /angry.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Is this common throughout the country or just here?

I will hide it or go to the bathroom if I have to blow my nose. Others don't seem concerned over it. It makes me sick as well. I think etiquette has changed for the worse.

Sneezes can't be helped but to blow your nose or go mineral drilling for booger nuggets at the table should be punishable by law!

I have noticed that not only do people blow their nose at a table but all around good manners has gone out the window. I don't think people care anymore, it is sad.

How about blowin the a$$ horn? I guess that is out of the question too. Man, a guy can't have any fun nowadays. /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

No blowin the a$$ horn isn't bad manners just good food.

That is only acceptable if the lettuce is not green enough.

I HATE when people do this! Is it really so difficult to excuse yourself from the table and go to the restroom to blow your nose?

It makes me want to pick up my chair and beat them about the head and shoulders with it before bludgeoning them with my fork….. but then I'm having nicotine withdrawals so that may be a slight overreaction on my part! /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

I've never noticed it before Goat, but it would disgust me too.

Go to the bathroom nose-blowers! /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Huh – now I'll probably start to notice it. And then I'll lean across the table and say, "Jim – go do that in the bathroom."

Karen, that was too funny, I almost spit out hot chocolate on my computer.

So it's not just here.

I've never noticed it in the South, but then maybe we go out more here.

There should be a fine or something, it's just not right.

My Dad used to do that at the dinner table every day.

At least he used a real cloth hanky.

You see some people with their paper napkins or flimsy 2-ply tissues and you can't help but flinch in anticipation of some loose projectile hurtling right at you.

Teach your children well folks.

It used to disgust me when I was a teenager.

I remember how relentlessly I would nitpick over every little perceived flaw of his, always correcting his mispronounced words,

until he told me: "If you don't like it, move out".

I guess I could have taken a more subtle approach. He worked hard at the factory everyday.

He didn't want his words corrected, he wanted me to listen to what he meant by them. (It still cracks me up when I think of how he said "tangy", with a soft "g" after I vowed not to criticise him anymore. LOL)

Sorry, I've gone off topic.

Kids today don't know the difference from a salad fork and a shrimp fork.

You don't want them to have to learn proper table manners on the streets.

I have really never noticed it. Maybe a couple times (and every time I gag bleh). It really makes me sick. Come on we dont want to eat hearing that. Sneezing I dont mind as much as its uncontrolable. Just dont let it be in my or my food direction.

Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they:

(1) eat less,

(2) don’t ask for money all the time,

(3) are easier to train,

(4) normally come when called,

(5) never ask to drive the car,

(6) don’t smoke or drink,

(7) don’t want to wear your clothes,

(8) don’t have to buy the latest fashions,

(9) don’t need a gazillion dollars for college and

(10) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children ..
