You know Christmas has arrived when you have relatives you haven't seen all year in your house eating your food, drinking your beer and scratching their privates on your couch.

growing up we always had a real tree. my dad couldn't be bothered using an axe so he usually used a shotgun and shot it thru the trunk! coupla blasts and down it came (needless to say we got them from a farmer friend, not the tree farm. /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> )

last year i just put some decorations on my norfolk island pine as danny was just 3, but this year i got a funky, WHITE, 6 1/2 ft pre-lit artificial. i love it. it was only $35, prolly cause it's white, but in our new place (new to us, at least) which is much brighter than where we lived previously, it looks really pretty. and since it's the first tree since cait, i thot we needed something different. and i KNOW she approves as the funkier the better for her.

Fake. Growing up, we always had a fake tree. The earliest one I remember, back in the 60's, was made of silver tinsel. What was up with those?

I agree, I love the smell of a real tree, but I've never had a real one

and other then then smell, everything else about a fake tree is prefereable

to me.

I don't know if it is from the crazy weather around here this year or what, but our local Christmas tree farm is not going to open this year. If you dont want a fake tree, you have to go out and get one that's pre-cut. I hate those. They cut them so early, they are half dead when you get them. We always cut one down ourselves at the farm, good thing I bought a fake one last year.

Hey Cowbud. Eastern Pa is the same way. Friday after Thanksgiving, every cut tree place had trees out.

There's like one place open, so far this year.

It's kind of strange, we have a few tree farms, they are open but you cut your own like you mentioned.

They die so quickly when they're pre cut.

Tree shortage, maybe. There was a lot of rain here this year, also.
