Jim Jackson or Mike Emerik? Nothing beats Gene Hart and some of his quips...my personal favorites were "There's a rugby scrum in the corner" and "...and there's Kerr (you could substitute LeClair or whoever) mushroom farming in the crease". And I don't want to swear to it, but he should've copyrighted "BOOM" because he was saying it in broadcast long before Madden made the transition to the booth. I have to say the guys who call the Buffalo Sabres (Rick Jeanneart)and Penguin games (Mike Lange) are both really good AND entertaining.

The Flyers were tied going towards the end of the third period and needed the game. The goalie had slid out of position and the Flyer shooting had a wide open net...Don Earle couldn't help it but blurted out "he hit the post, he hit the f&*#@g post". He was done the next day.

As I stated before I am a huge Flyers fan. But while there were phantom calls at the end of regulation , the fact is they had 3 breakaways and couldn't score and Carter msissing an emppy net is the real reason they lost.

Yup, but I still get bummed when I watch the Flyers miss an empty net.

I think that's the difference between a championship caliber team and just being mediocre. You have to capitalize on opportunities when they happen. Nothing makes me crazier then when they (or any team) tries to "stick handle" a goal, just shoot the thing! Gary Dornhoefer used to always say, when in doubt in doesn't hurt to shoot it at the net because strange things can happen.

As a Flyers fan I was less then happy about the outcome and considering the importance of the game (for the playoff standings Philly needed the game more then Boston), just KNEW the Flyers would find a way to mess it all up....little did i realize the referees, once again, would help out by not only calling a phantom penalty that led to a power play and hence the tieing goal, but made sure to call one at the end of regulation to carry over into overtime as well. I'm determined not to be too bummed out, but it doesn't look like the Flyers will make the playoffs this year. As a hockey fan I love the Winter Classic and how it helps promote the game. According to Commissioner Bettman, not only is the WC EASILY the highest rated hockey event during the year, it generated almost $30 million for the local economy and that the revenue in terms of advertising and sponsors has gone up 60% each year they've had the WC. In this economy, that's very impressive. Can't wait for the Winter Olympics.

the only sports team i root for any more is the Pittsburgh Penguins. when they won the stanley cup last year it was brilliant. they go to children's hospital in pitts and i've got pics of cait with sid 'the kid' crosby...tho she really liked this little russian who kept winking at her... /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

My high school colors were those of the Bruins and our hockey uniforms were almost exact copies save for the logo. This in Chicago, home of arguably the best sweater ever.
