Here's the link to the actual thread Cheryl was referring to.

I am going to lock this one since it seems we can't merge threads using the new system.

Hi Nightwatcher,

We do have a thread established for music and songs, called "What Song is Running Through Your Head."

I will merge this one in with that one.

I couldn't find any topic that was started that was all about music and songs so I decided to start one up. I have always loved music and songs. I must have a few hundred 45s, LPs, 8-track, cassettes and CDs. Plus a lot of music is stored on my reel to reel tapes. I don't play any of them anymore but use Youtube if I want to hear the music and songs from long ago.

Sometimes, I will hear some old music and tunes on TV commercials or TV shows and movies. It brings back memories. I appreciate almost all type of music and songs except rap and hip-hop or whatever it is called. I call it noise. About 20 or more years ago, I used to go shopping at the music store at the mall. Normally music makes me feel really good but on that particular day, the music store was playing real loud rap which I couldn't stand. It actually made me mad and I had to leave the store without buying anything. Imagine that, music (rap) that actually made me angry. Normally, music will relax me or energize me to where I want to dance. Music that I like makes me feel good. There are all types of music and songs both old and really old and some more modern that I enjoy.

Sometimes PBS will have some specials on television where old music is played. I look forward to watching these types of shows. One reason why I like Youtube for music purposes is because of the included videos.

Take for example a song by Kenny Vance and the Planotones. Kenny Vance was one of the original members of Jay And The Americans from the 1960s.

I recall seeing the above video on PBS a few years ago. Please note at 03:48 where the music stops and the singers harmonize with their voices. This type of singing without music is called "a capella" or "acapella" or in short form "capella" and there are plenty of these a capella songs on Youtube.
