How about every year a different place? /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Well, my idea is to try and get more than one location that is convenient to people in all geographical areas. This way everyone could meet people from their part of the country. A new place every year is an idea but since this isn't a conference you will need a location that has a natural public appeal and accommodations.

This is in its infancy so we shall see once we start putting out the word. Maybe others will like the idea and pick a place in their area for a gathering too.

so realisitically, how much would something like this cost?

Gettysburg at the height of toursist season…just so i can start

getting an idea if it's something i should even bother trying to

plan for.

The only cost would be your trip to and from, your hotel room, food and anything you wanted to do in the area. However, most everything is free as far as the park goes.

Remember this is not a formal gathering. No one makes any money from this. There is no convention, lectures, events, etc. It just people visiting Gettysburg. The only difference between this and you just hopping in the car and going next week is that hopefully most people in town will have an interest in the paranormal.

Now I am sure if this gets off the ground that people that know each other will make plans to meet at a pre-designated spot on one of the days. Other than that the idea is for people to wear some type of organizational logo on shirts and hats to show they have an interest in the paranormal field. That way it gives people a reason to say hello to those they normally would just pass by.

Like I said before. I am hoping for just a simple massive meet and greet. You see someone with a logo you recognize then you say hello and introduce yourself, etc. Simple as that.

I came up with the idea because I don't go to conventions. I just can't see shelling out what could amount to several hundreds of dollars to listen to people talk or go on paid investigations plus hotel and travel fees. This way I can enjoy what Gettysburg has to offer at my leisure. Meet like minded people and maybe make new paranormal contacts and so on without padding the wallets of the Para-celebs that don't care about who we are as individuals. People are always saying there is no cohesion in the paranormal. Well here is a good way to get started in my opinion.

Kim, what about some universal form of identification?

Those of us that don't belong to any type of formal group, wouldn't typically have an identifiable shirt or hat with a logo on it.

Or even just a preplanned meeting place.

Well, anything would do. Like Movieman said he got a PUG t-shirt and many groups have items you can buy.

If you like PUG, get a pug t-shirt, if you like GhostBreakers, get a GhostBreakers t-shirt, or TAPS, Ghost Adventures, Ghost Lab and so on, etc.

If you would rather not be associated with any individual group you could always go to a local place and have something made up that just says something like… Paranormalist or some catchy phrase of your choosing.

Then again, you could just run around yelling, "I'm one of you guys!" lol

Yea, you're right, it would be easy enough to get something….

Course, I kinda like the running around like a crazy lady myself………. /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />

So, why don't we start thinking about the 2nd weekend in August, since Carolyn had mentioned the Bluegrass festival is the 3rd weekend?

Second weekend sounds good. I just want to wait until I get some feedback from Gettysburg itself before going all out with promoting the idea. I wrote to the Chamber of Commerce and others to maybe get some feedback and pointers. Actually hoping they like the idea and support it.

I was thinking of tin foil hats to mark us…no?

Gettysburg sounds like a cool idea…I would be interested in a packet that shows the areas of interest, and possible places to explore not only for the paranormal but history sites, etc…

The hotel's website is http://www.thegettysburgaddress.com. We are also on Facebook as "Quality Inn at General Lee's Headquarters." The Facebook page has pictures of the rooms and suites, as well as the amenities of each suite and the property itself.

I just spoke to the owner and manager of the hotel. He is thrilled that PUG may be visiting us. He is allowing me to block any number of rooms for PUG's exclusive use. We have 48 regular rooms and 7 suites. If Gettysburg is the destination of choice, just let me know. I will handle blocking the rooms in advance when the system allows me to. I will also be working on a few more things for PUG, but will wait until I hear more. I don't want to jump the gun!
