In the internet age it seems like everything is right at your finger tips…almost. The other day I was rummaging through some old cassettes and was thinking of some really great music I HAD back in the day but has long since gone MIA. I had a friend in college who worked at one of the airlines and he would go from NY to London for long weekends. Some of the music he brought back was just phenomenal (always on vinyl) and almost impossible to find here in the States. He turned me onto this group called "Thatcher on Acid" and made a copy of one of their releases for me that I loved. Unfortunately for me, it was on a cassette w/something a little more mainstream and was stolen from my apartment my last year in school. The classmate I got it from has also faded into the mists of time and no matter where i've looked, I've never been able to locate the music. I've found references to the band and it would appear they are somehow "related" to Chumbawamba, but it seems like the only relation is the political stance of the band. Strangely enough, the music I'm missing the most, all were vinyl in origin and with the arrival of CD technology, alot of that stuff disappeared completely or was repackaged into a pricey box set that I can live w/out.

As I live in a rough neighborhood I've got to be VERY mindful of what I'm leaving out in plain sight in the car. My car gets broken into at least twice a year and this past year I had my beloved winter Eagles jacket stolen (a gift from Monkette) and a work shirt that I bought on my very first visit to the bay area (to meet Monkette). That work shirt was over 10 years old and I'd sewn it back together numerous times, but it was a combination of a comfort thing and sentimental value that can't be replaced. Though I'm bummed about the loss of these cherished items, I figure there's probably someone out there who really needed that stuff more and it probably helped them make it through the winter…I don't like it, but I understand.

How about you? Is there something of yours that has disappeared that you miss? I'm trying to steer clear of people, pets etc, looking more at objects if you know what I mean.

On Wednesday, I was looking for my daughter's shot records for a doctor's appointment.

Never did find those suckers.

Imagine there's no heaven, it's easy if you try.

That which is unchallenged and exercised as habit rapidly becomes ritual.

When this occurs, dissent becomes an object of surprise, if not resentment.

I remember my first Corvette. A 1969 Stingray convertible rag top.

I had to sell it to my cousin when I was 18 because I could no longer

afford the insurance on it and be able to afford rent and food. I sold it

to him in 1984 under the proviso that he could only resale it if he gave

me first option, at the price, at which he bought it from me at. So far

he still has my car and he won't sale it! I miss that car! /sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />
