Here are a few photos of my son, Corey, showing his lamb (Kobi) at the Orange County Fair Junior Livestock Exhibit.

On Saturday is the auction and then … gulp … no more Kobi. /sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

I don't think I could ever be a Future Farmer of America. I'd get too attached.

But Kobi's so cute mom /sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> I say you guys keep her. I have the yard lol. By the way he really did a great job with her during the showing.

Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they:

(1) eat less,

(2) don’t ask for money all the time,

(3) are easier to train,

(4) normally come when called,

(5) never ask to drive the car,

(6) don’t smoke or drink,

(7) don’t want to wear your clothes,

(8) don’t have to buy the latest fashions,

(9) don’t need a gazillion dollars for college and

(10) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children ..

We have a state fair starting up tomorrow here in Delaware. There are numerous barns devoted to youngsters with livestock that show orr their animals all week long. The kids really look forward to it…..

Well, it was a really good learning experience for Corey. It was hard work … cleaning, feeding, exercising his lamb twice a day (morning and evening) for about 4 months or so. No holidays off. No weekends off. LOL. The kids also sheer and wash their lambs.

Right now Corey doesn't think he's going to do it again next year, but he said when it comes time to decide, he'll probably change his mind and do it again. We'll see!

Chrystal, if Kobi doesn't sell at the auction (which isn't likely), maybe we can donate her to a petting zoo. LOL

Good job Corey….. /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

OK, well to wrap up this story, Kobi was sold at auction yesterday afternoon at about 3 p.m. She was the very last animal sold in the auction … #248.

We will miss Kobi a lot. She was such a cute lamb. She was so adorable, a bit stubborn, but always fun.

I'm starting to get teary again …

Awww. I was hoping for the petting zoo!

You should be proud of Corey. That certainly took a lot of discipline and dedication.

Great job Corey!

Is Corey devastated? Will you ever eat lamb again?

And of course…

Corey has a great smile.

I was hoping for the petting zoo too Carolyn. I should have done my research better because I found out that a couple of the kids found a zoo that had openings. I should have paid better attention at the parent meeting. /sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

I don't think Corey's ever eaten lamb before. LOL. He's not devastated, just a bit sad. I guess he can handle being in FFA. I'm the one who can't handle it. But if I hear Chad say, "It's the circle of life," one more time and start singing the Lion King theme, I'm gonna … /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Thanks Karen! Corey's smile is so big that in half the pictures I take of him, his eyes aren't even open. LOL

I'd be devastated. But then, I tend to get attached to animals. Even the deer in my back yard, the raccoons who hang out under the house and the birds who have a nest in my soffit. Except for bats. And snakes. I don't get attached to them – but then, I wouldn't eat them either.
