My heart is ALWAYS w/the Philly teams, but got to cheer for the local teams, helps the economy…baaaaaaaaa (j/k I know loads of people employed by the plethora of Bay Area teams and it would be a drag if they all lost their jobs)

I love the Canadian National Anthem sung at hockey games. It's a classic.

Indeed. Have you ever heard of "The Hockey Song" by Vile Richard? It's a hoot! Stars lost to the Oilers last night in a shoot out. Sucks, but at least they got a point and it was a fantastic game!

Can't resist any longer….must post Hockey Song….

http://www.myspace.com/vilerichard (click on Hockey Song)

You'll either love me or hate me, because this song will be stuck in your head for weeks….

At 14 I had my first mullet

At 15 I had my first beard

At 16 I scored my first hat trick

And I shed a few manly tears

But with my toothless grin

I will always fit in

When I drop the gloves for the team

I lead with my left

I can trade with the best

And more often than not I get creamed

And I'll drink drink drink

And I'll fight fight fight

And I'll watch Donald Cherry on Saturday Night

And I'll drink drink drink

And I'll fight fight fight

And I'll watch Donald Cherry on Saturday Night

On Monday I play hockey

On Tuesday I play hockey

On Wednesday I play hockey

On Thursday I'm sore

I will never miss a game

My jersey always smells the same

Let's play hockey some more

And we'll drink drink drink

And we'll fight fight fight

And we'll watch Donald Cherry on Saturday Night

And we'll drink drink drink

And we'll fight fight fight

And we'll watch Donald Cherry on Saturday Night

Hockey hockey hockey

Hockey hockey hockey

Hockey hockey hockey Heidi Ho!

Hockey hockey hockey

Hockey hockey hockey

Hockey hockey hockey Heidi Ho Who Hey!

And we'll drink drink drink

And we'll fight fight fight

And we'll watch Donald Cherry on Saturday Night

And we'll drink drink drink

And we'll fight fight fight

And we'll watch Donald Cherry on Saturday Night…

Understand that one of the original 6, the Chicago Blackhawks, is being managed now by a group whose only goal is the "Cup."

Isn't the Cup every team's goal though? Unless you mean Chicago is prepared to get it by nefarious means….(insert evil, wicked laugh here)

The 'Hawks are one of the original 6 (along w/the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins, NY Rangers and the Detroit Red Wings) and up until recently were run by one of the league's more miserly owners, "Dollar" Bill Wirtz. Without going into too much detail (it's well documented on the web) Wirtz went onto alienate the fan base by repeatedly making moves that pushed the fans away until Sept 07 when "Dollar" Bill died and his son took over. The first move he made was putting the team BACK on free tv as opposed to the pay per view his father had instituted. The team also benefitted from Rocky's (the son) front office decisions and great draft picks. The team is now getting big crowds back in the arena again and are doing very well. I'm not a huge fan of the hawks but have a great deal of respect for the team and it's history. I think it's wonderful that they've risen from the ashes to flourish once again. It's good for the GAME!

For those of you who've never been to a game, you should go at least once to an NHL game. If the $$$ is a bit much, try a minor league game first. It's an incredible experience. I really don't think that TV is its best medium but w/the advent of these HD tvs it's easier to watch, but is no replacement for the live product.

OLD TIME HOCKEY EH?

I've been to two Stars games, including one that was a post season game against Edmonton. They were awesome to watch. My wife got into it and was enjoying the fights. She wants to sit down by the ice next time we go.

Been to tons of games and women are more blood thirsty then the guys are usually…not for nothing lots of hotties at hockey games too. As a heads up if you DO get seats down by the ice dress warmly and do NOT put your beers on the back side of the boards…lol

We know about dressing warm. I used to play goalie with a summer league when I lived up in Dallas. Middle of summer in Texas and my wife is wearing sweat pants, sweatshirt, a heavy coat, a blanket and drinking hot chocolate.

One of my traditions with the nephews is to go to a Stars game every year. We used to get seats on the ice, but it was too hard for them to follow the game. We now sit a few rows back so they can see! We always have so much fun and they absolutely love it. Last year was the youngest one's first time to go – he was so proud that he was finally big enough to go to the Stars game with this big brother and Auntie! /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
