Well, we are getting the rain left over by the hurricane. It started last night with a small band of showers and just started up again about 30 minutes with some good heavy downpours. The wind was blowing for a short time, not very strong. Now it's all rain for the next several hours. We need the rain but not this heavy.

The fun part is I have to have to work the next three nights so we'll see how this affects my call volume.

I don't mind it raining when I'm not at work. Somehow I don't think I will enjoy tonight.

Weren't you guys having drought issues in Texas? Thought the rain would be welcomed.

We've been fine in my section of the world. Last I checked we were still +5 inches for the year. If it's a slow steady long term rain that is good. But when it comes quickly and heavy then it doesn't have time to soak into the ground. It just runs off and causes flash floods.

Yeah floods can flash. It's against the law but that has never stopped them.

But can anyone answer this question? What is the heck is frozen fog? Is it a frozen wall that you run smack into and bounce back or what?

Did a little research and there doesn't seem to be any bouncing or flashing involved. I learned a new word today and it is pogonip! Can you say pogonip? It is fun to say out loud /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> and it means a fog of ice particles. The Aviation dictionary defines it as radiation fog consisting of ice crystals, formed under conditions of clear skies, very low temperatures, and little or no wind. The fog may cause a halo. Sometimes called a frost fog. Can't imagine that it would be cool enough in TX this time of year to create frozen fog?!

Oh, it's not right now. I've seen it used in the past around here and it always left me scratching my head.

Apparently when George Bush was president he had a machine installed at his Crawford home. This machine in times of bad weather can cause storms to split in half and go around the county. I guess he left it there and it was turned on for the remains of the hurricane. The county to the north of me and also the county to the south of me both had terrible flooding. People were being picked off of cars and rooftops to be rescued. There were a couple of deaths from the floods and several homes were washed away or completely flooded. What did we get? Several inches of rain, a little bit of wind.

Wouldn't that be the Chinese weather machine that the Clintons obtained?

Could be. Though I doubt that the Clintons would let Bush borrow it.
