With the end of the Space Shuttle flights coming soon, should we continue sending humans into space?

I'm not always right but I'm never wrong.

The above are my opinions.

I voted for a combination of robots and human….HAL doesn't scare me! Personally I feel that they should scale back the space program until they get some of the bigger more immediate problems handled here on earth.

I'm sorry to see all those NASA folks out of a job but I don't think there is anything new to be gained by sending people up in space right now. If they have a super good reason, then by all means off they should go. Otherwise, lets keep some of that $ and pay for something more practical down here on Earth.

I would like to see the Borg in space, so I voted for robot humans.

Umm, how about if we crew the ship with the casts of Jersey Shore and the Real Housewives shows, and power it with the four half-melted Japanese reactor cores? Seems like a super good reason to me… /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Can we please add GH and GHI crews to that ship???? /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Actually, I think we need to fix some problems here first…..then resume the space program.

Jyb and Wrighty, now those are all very good reasons, except that:

1. We should keep Maddie (the ghosthunting dog) down here where she won't be exploited.

2. No cameras allowed or we will be bombarded with their space junk!

Robots all the way. Lot's cheaper when you don't have to keep a human alive ! /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Lot less rending of clothes and gnashing of teeth when #46586586 eats it on re-entry too!

Yes on human space flight.

If there are humans willing and qualified to do it, I'm all for it.

In order to survive as a species, I think the exploration and eventual colonization of space is a necessity. Otherwise we will use up all our resources on this planet and run the risk of eventually dieing off.

Well I don't think we will have to worry too much about there not being any more humans in space, the Chinese Taikonauts will continue their advance into space despite what the rest of the world will do one way or the other

And of course hopefully, the modest steps into space taken by commercial companies will expand into full blown space flight
