Definitely one for the ages. Got up and made the east coast phone calls early 8am pst, then helped w/food prep and got some great receipes finally committed to paper (Ediaz65 we'll talk on the side about this). Did all the rest of the prep and kept washing dishes as we went. It was myself and monkette's parents slaving. Everything turned out great and was ready at 6pm when the guests started arriving. Ironically, it was all the "outlaws" that pitched in while immediate family (monkette included) just sat back and watched the rest of us work. Finally Monkette's mom made the kitchen a no parking zone for those who weren't helping out. But all the pre prepped food went off w/out a hitch everything was delish and once the turkeys came out the rest of the sides cooked right up as they were meant too and the microwave offered us options for the mashed potatoes and green bean almondine. We had pies that came w/the pre made stuff but i helped monkette's mom make this "torta de leche" (that one of the receipes E65), and others brought cookies, rice pudding and tiramisu (sp?). We went through easily 4-5 cases of henieken, 1 case of corona, 2 bottles of parton (one silver and one anejo) and a bottle flor d'cana rum. The party was raging until about midnight, complete dancing in the cleaned up kitchen w/great music via SiriusXm Satellite radio (best radio on radio) channel 83 Caliente before switching over to our own cds of salsa, merengue and norteno music. But things were going a little too smoothly and of course a couple of hot heads tried to go at it, long story but the fight was averted and people were seperated and calmed down. But it brought the party to a grinding halt. I stayed up until about 1:30-2:30am before drifting back to the apartment w/Monkette. The next morning I was told that those who were staying over night continued to party until around 4-5am. The amount of food, alcohol and soda consumed is not to be believed but magically there's enough left overs to make some mondo kettles of turkey soup!!! I didn't wake up on Friday until 2:30pm. Monkette stayed in bed until 4pm as she stayed on line late.

I walked in and plopped on the floor to talk to Monkette's mom while she baby sat one of her grandkids in the main house and we both laughed at how things were going TOO perfectly and how thanksgivings here are kinda jinxed...long story for another time perhaps.

I hope everyone had a wonderful time, didn't over eat or get into fisticuffs w/extended family members.

I love Gatlinburg, I'm jealous. Hope you enjoy. Beautiful place to visit. Don't care much for Pigeon Forge but love the town of Gatlinburg.

I am thankful for my family and friends, without them I would not be the person that I am today.
