Halloween Stories?

Our first Halloween as Salem, MA residents was crazy fun! We already are planning our costumes and how to decorate the outside of our house for next year. This year, since I was really sick for just over a month, I didn't get around to doing much decorating. A couple weekends ago we ran up to the CVS, bought some webs and a giant spider, and found a skeleton pirate head at the Halloween store so we did a quick decoration job. We also put up orange and purple lights on our fence. For some reason, the giant spider and web was a big hit. Everyone kept stopping to take pictures which gave us some laughs.

On Sunday we ran up to the Halloween store and spent another $100 on the clearance stuff to get a head start for next year. We can't wait!

Anyone else do anything fun and exciting?

We didn't take any pictures of our house. We decorated it up but we weren't here. We have a 6 ft inflatable Vampire Tigger that was out by the road. My wife's pond had floating eyeballs in the water with a vulture and a skull looking at the koi. One the porch we closed off one side with a blue tarp and had a fog machine running. We had three fake Jack o' Lanterns on the porch along with a large bat, a floating ghost and a sack of bones.

Our street doesn't get many kids. We left a bucket of candy on the porch and it was untouched. I can't wait till next year.

Ryan your house sounds great! Wish you had taken pics.

Haha…Ryan, the pond with the floating eyeballs is hilarious. I should tell my parents to do that with their koi pond.

For next year we have a ton of stuff. Since we're in the most historical part of Salem and on the historical walk line right by Pickering Wharf, we got a TON of people walking nonstop since the weekend of the 17th. So now that we have a feel for the holiday in town, we definitely know what to do to make it bigger and better for next year. We didn't stay home to hand out candy and won't next year, either. I decided I'm going to be a really possessed Reagan for Halloween next year. The white bloodshot contacts and all.

I'm with ya – can't wait until next year. Thanks for sharing your story! Too many people are boring, or just lazy… they need to decorate for Halloween. It's so fun!! hehehe…

Me too! We used to put up a full-sized tree, but now we use one that's only 4-feet tall. Most of our ornaments are things like little glass haunted houses, glass ghosts, and a lot of hockey and wine themed ornaments. So, it's still a little Halloweenie!

So are you just filling up space, or do you actually have a Halloween story? /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

That's cool… But I'm just wondering if she has some Halloween stories to share. With a little boy out trick or treating, there's bound to be something funny seen, heard or whatever.

We didn't make it to Disneyland on Halloween. /sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

Well, Chad did, but that's because he had to work. LOL

So, no exciting Halloween stories on my part. Next year should be good though! hehehe

Took my little girl out, she's a big Phillies fan. We saw a boy, about 7 or 8, all decked out in Phillies gear carrying a severed head. The best part? On the severed head was a Yankees hat!! lol It was nice to see and my little girl loved it!

The only bad thing we saw was a guy decked out in Yankees gear. Not for Halloween, he was just a fan. Needless to say, he got heckled an awful lot!

*lol* That's awesome.

MK, sorry to hear your trip to Disney didn't work out, but there's a year ahead to plan for next year. My husband and I were thinking about going down to Disneyworld for the weekend before Halloween next year. We have a friend that works at the park doing VIP tours, so we would get to save some money since she is able to give us free passes into the park. I'd love to go through those haunted houses down there!

Great links, Bronzino!! Thanks for sharing. /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
