To avoid creating a new thread, I'd figure I would post the news here. My spousal unit and I are now expecting our third kid. We are really hoping this one is a girl. The two boys from Hell would love to have a sister. So far the due date is 11-18 which kinda sucks but then we'll see when she actually wants to come out.

Also my group did an investigation last Saturday night. Not much happened personal experience wise so we'll have to wait and see what the evidence says.

You may now return to your regular scheduled random events, already in progress.

Thanks for sharing your exciting news, Ryan. I hope you get that little girl, they are lots of fun! Then again, with three sons, I think you are entitled to an Uncle Charlie!

Let us know if you find anything interesting when you review the evidence.

Did any of you see this news story about Chicago public school kids being forbidden to bring their own lunches to school??? They have to eat the cafeteria food unless they have a medical excuse. Unbelievable!

Authorities say that it's to protect children from their own poor food choices. Isn't that a parent's job?

Can you hear the jack boots marching all over parental rights???

http://www.chicagotribune.com/…..ws/educati…0,4567867.story

I'd be filing court papers right now if I had a kid in that school system. I hope someone does. This is getting ridiculous.

I could rant if you want?

Schools do not serve real food, even with the initiative to make school food healthier. That's for starters. How dare they tell us they know what is better for our children than we do? Our stupid frickin' nanny state government slowly removes all of our abilities to care for ourselves until we become entirely helpless and dependent on them. Look at what our reliance on government has done so far…oh yeah, we're in good shape.

I'll stop before I really rant.

I keep noticing communistic traits, in some of these changes, maybe it's just me.

Congrats, Ryan, and to your wife. Hope it's a girl.

Ha, they aren't any easier. But, Dads seem to melt with girls and wrap their Dads around their finger.

Communist? Hell yeah. 12 out of the 45 stated communist goals involve and will be furthered by taking control of student curriculums. How do you ensure control over student curriculums? Force all children into public schools.

As Lenin once said “Give us the child for 8 years and it will be a Bolshevik forever”.

Communist Goals (1963) Congressional Record--Appendix, pp. A34-A35 January 10, 1963

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths. [Pledge of Allegiance?]

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state."

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the "big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture--education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use ["]united force["] to solve economic, political or social problems.

Food for thought:

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States. Have they succeeded?

Read all 45 of their goals and find out. I dare you. /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

My guess is that, as with anything our government does, you just have to follow the money. Where is the financial incentive to force parents to pay for school lunches? In that, you will most likely find our answers. And if we are heading towards communism, follow the money there, as well. If the "average" person has to exist in a communist society, it is so that the top 1 percent of wealthy individuals and huge corporations can get more while everyone else has less.

Corporations aren't safe either. After all, they provide non-government employment. Everyone has to be dependent on the government to be controllable.

Communist goal #37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business

I'm not as worried about communism anymore, since the wall fell and Cuba gave up I don't think it's worth the bother. Now Socialism is a different story. Even with the commies and the sochies (just made that up /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> ) there are still folks making money so in reality it comes back to being capitalist!

Went to the drive in this weekend. Had to drive two hours but it was worth the trip. They still had the mosquito coils and the speakers from the 1950's. We backed our pick up into the spot and put our lawn chairs in the truck bed. It was a beautiful, starry, summer night!

I feel your pain, Lady. We have been baked, broiled and fried here in KS. I am sick of this 100+ degree weather. I hope my air conditioner doesn't quit on me. Serenity now!

I could live in the upper northwest, the upper northeast and possibly on the coast. It may be that the grass is always greener or that KS is just kicking my a**. Stayed in the a/c ALL DAY because the heat is making me feel like crap.
