OfflineOkay – someone asked me – "WTF did you dream?"
I was 'taken' to a "White Supremacist Group Training Camp" in the Idaho Mountains. Now the thing is – there was nothing in the news during this time about this topic in the News.
There was this 18-20 year old kid who got sucked in and didn't fully realize what was going on until it was too late. He was forced to go through the doctrination and when he finally tried to 'get out' he was told, "There is only one way out. Six feet under." I had seen an escape route as clear as day … but I could not talk with him or tell him. It was like I was a "ghost". Yes
/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> he did get out) exactly as they said, "Six feet under."
This is as much detail as I care to share.
That's terrible! No wonder you're still haunted by that dream. /sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />
OfflineI dream in color. Vivid color. I've shared my one recurring dream before and the oddity of it is that it changed as my life progressed.
I used to dream of a house, really it is a mansion. I walked from room to room in this house and it was lushly furnished. The great part of the house is that it had a full theater…orchestra pit and all. It was GLORIOUS! The last time I dreamed of the house was after The Big Wolf and I got married and we were in the theater doing a sound and light check for his band The Dixie Werewolves to play a show. I can still remember the velvet crimson curtains on the stage. We were so PROUD to have a performing venue of our own! That was probably about 5 years ago as we had been married for a while and the band stopped performing 3 years ago.
That house down to the crimson curtains was featured on a paranormal show a few years ago. It was owned by an opera singer and she performed there. I wish I had written down the info as I can't remember who it was. But that is the one dream that I remember vividly and could manipulate.
I also have a recurring dream of falling from a ladder…ladder leaned on the house, I'm at the top (for some reason because I HATE ladders!) and it tips backwards just like in the movies. About half way down I am able to slow the ladder and land softly on my feet. If only!
I have a funny one too. I watched the TV show Surface regularly until some dumba$$ decided it was a cheesy show (it was, but still). We were in a house and one of the sea monsters, Nimrod was running around and we were trying to catch it. It appeared under the table where I was sitting and I grabbed it with both hands in a death grip around its neck. Wade woke to me holding both hands up in a death grip screaming: "I've GOT IT! I'VE GOT IT! SHOOT IT!". (okay, not a conservationist's dream apparently) It scared him to death then he realized I was dreaming and asked: "What have you got honey?" At that, I answered: "I'm dreaming. Never mind. I'll tell you in the morning"
Its an odd phenomenon to me but yes I dream in color, I read in my dreams, I manipulate situations in my dreams, and I remember my dreams. Sometimes to my embarrassment!

OfflineWith Jj myth busting left and right(bumble bee myth, 10% brain myth) it's left me thinking about other things that are taught as fact that don't seem to really be true.
For instance the statistic that only 3 out of 100 people dream in color- a "fact" I was taught in school as a kid. Personally, I've never believed that, especially being a person who only dreams in color. So- I ask you- do you dream in color? Do you even remember your dreams?
And feel free to add your own "is what we were taught REALLY true?" experience!
I do dream in color. I also dream in sound. I've had a few dreams where I've been playing the piano and I can hear the song, but unfortunately, not after I wake up. I don't play the piano, by the way. The tunes are pretty but I can never remember them.

I don't think I've ever dreamed in anything BUT color. I can't remember a single black and white dream I've ever had.
Remembering my dreams is another story. I only remember my dreams about 3 or 4 times a week, but when I do remember them, I always remember vivid details, and the dreams are usually pretty wacky.
My S.O., says that his dreams are usually little snapshots that switch from picture to picture, while my dreams are almost like watching a movie. There is usually a whole series of related sequences, versus just snapshots.
One of the things I've heard about dreams is that every single person in a dream is someone you've seen before, even if it was just a glimpse of a random stranger on the street. I don't know that I believe that, but it's hardly easy to disprove. Any thoughts?

I've only ever dreamed in color so far as I can recall. I tend to not remember many dreams that I have nowadays unless I sleep later than usual – then I have seemingly big epic dreams between the time I usually get up and the time I eventually get myself out of my slumber that I do recall in a lot of detail.
I've not heard what you said about dreaming only of people we've seen in real life, even fleetingly. That would be fascinating if true, although I can't see how such an abstract theory could have any evidence to support it. If I wasn't married, I think I'd want that to be true though ! /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
OfflineOkay….I've had to wait to reply to this thread……since I very rarely remember my dreams. This morning I finally remembered my dream from last night about arranging a beautiful bouquet of very colorful flowers…..
So, if they say that 3 out of 100 dream in color…..there sure are a lot of us 3's out of 100 around here…… /dry.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

OfflineSince we're talking about dreams – I don't know if I've ever fully described my one weird dream element here. If I have, please forgive me. If not, maybe someone has an idea. There was this kid I went to school with for years – like from kindergarten until graduation. He was just a kid I knew. Nothing special per se – we didn't particularly have any kind of a friendship other than I knew him as a kid who I'd always gone to school with. He was like a background kid in my life.
For 20 years, I've had dreams about this kid. Whenever he appears in one of my dreams, my life changes in some major way. It's really strange.

OfflineYep, Color, all the way. I used to write down my dreams in a book. I should find that book and start doing it again.
OfflineI actually once had a dream that was a complete film noir. It was all in black and white- it even had an "old" feel to it. It started on a rainy street and had your typical old gangster cars and a lady with a trench- in fact, I think everyone in the dream had a trench coat on- except the bartender. Man, I can't believe I remembered that one. I think I had it in high school. The darn thing even had credits.
And Jj- that's bone chilling. I hate those dreams that are so real you can't help but wonder… especially when what happens is like that.

OfflineIt is a 'dream' I'd soon have never had, to be honest. It still makes me 'wonder' … because it was the only dream I could not control .. the only one.

Some of this I heard before but thought folks might like to read this article about dreams.
OfflineI definitvely dream in colour … I vividly remember a nightmares from my childhood. Ever so often (every time I slept in my parents bedroom) I was being hunted by a whitish thing – and even though everything had a blackish touch, the wardrobe had still had the same ugly yellowish taint.
Most often, when I was just beginning to drean, I was being pulled from my bed by *something* – I could see the pattern of my carpet or our dog's bright orange ball that he often smuggled under my bed.
These days, the few dreams I can remember for more than a few minutes are in colour as well – and *do* read in dreams as well.
