With Jj myth busting left and right(bumble bee myth, 10% brain myth) it's left me thinking about other things that are taught as fact that don't seem to really be true.

For instance the statistic that only 3 out of 100 people dream in color- a "fact" I was taught in school as a kid. Personally, I've never believed that, especially being a person who only dreams in color. So- I ask you- do you dream in color? Do you even remember your dreams?

And feel free to add your own "is what we were taught REALLY true?" experience!

A truth taught to me as a child was that the Yankees were evil and pinstripes were for sissies. I have since learned that pinstripes can be flattering on a full figure /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Please, I hope you are not offended by my Myth Busting??

One person in a totally different thread was more then just offended, because apparently the 10% Brain Myth Use is 'sold' in various Psychic Groups – Books as to why some could have psychic abilities and other not … (Bottom Line – they felt they were being sold a 'bill of goods' and the foundation now (then) was on seriously weak ground after learning it was just a myth.

As to your question –

Yes I do dream in color. I did a survey on this one in a old group and found, that those who remember their dreams do remember it being in color. The next answer was UNCERTAIN/Don't Remember my dreams.

Another and I'm not sure this is a "myth" or not – my son told me he had heard or read, "People cannot read words or maps in their dreams" I can do and have done both and when I talked, he said, "Dad I do too." After I talked with a few other people, they all could remember dreams where maps and 'notes' – 'books' – 'menus' and so on.

Now one thing I've found interesting is more people than not found they could NOT control their dreams or be "Matrix" creative in solving them. Like Flying Like Superman – Teleport or "X-Men" type powers when needed. Now again I'm not sure of any stats on this one – But if I need to fly like Superman, I can and do, ect. I have always had an ease of controlling my dream … Except for one and it still to this day – bothers me to no end. I'm not even sure if it was a "dream" … we found not news of the dream in the Idaho papers …. (I live in Washington) and well .. it was a dream … (I hope) … but still …. it still gives me the creeps!

I just read words in one of my dreams last night, so I know that's a myth.

Lucid dreamers can control dreams.

You are in WA? Whereabouts? Have we discussed this already?

I'm definitely not offended- I love myth busting /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

And I'm with you and NoWhammies- I've definitely read things in my dreams and I've also been able to change the course of a dream if I wanted to- Not all dreams though.

The Idaho Dream (as I call it) I could not change the course … I actually woke up screaming at the kid – GET OUT!! and was in tears. That "Dream" had me upset for days, it seemed that real … to this day I still wonder. It was 4 years ago.

Your dream sounds horrible, JJB and very upsetting. It obviously had a big impact on you if you're still thinking about it four years later. /sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I've had a few dreams like that, where I can see them as clearly as if I had just lived them yesterday, in spite of the fact that they are dreams that I had years ago.

I also have a few very vivid recurring dreams.

Yep. My dream last night was in color, and I read stuff in it. I'm exploding myths all over the place. /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

I have very vivid dreams, but I really am not sure whether or not it's in color. I've read in my dreams and usually do remember them. In fact I'm a little cross at Monkette this morning as in my dream her and one of her brothers played a really mean practical joke on me in public. I may be a smart @$$ but I am NOT a fan of practical jokes and stuff like that as more often then not they're pretty mean.

Okay – someone asked me – "WTF did you dream?"

I was 'taken' to a "White Supremacist Group Training Camp" in the Idaho Mountains. Now the thing is – there was nothing in the news during this time about this topic in the News.

There was this 18-20 year old kid who got sucked in and didn't fully realize what was going on until it was too late. He was forced to go through the doctrination and when he finally tried to 'get out' he was told, "There is only one way out. Six feet under." I had seen an escape route as clear as day … but I could not talk with him or tell him. It was like I was a "ghost". Yes /sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> he did get out) exactly as they said, "Six feet under."

This is as much detail as I care to share.
