They have a little breakdown on their site…

http://www.njghs.net/certification.html

…but who certified the certifiers?

I think from what I remembered you can investigate eastern state for 25 bucks an hour, at a four hour minimum with your own group.

I've been to eastern state so many times. They have a terror behind the walls at Halloween. I don't know if I would trust this place to train with someone.

It's all wired for special effects.

I have heard about the Halloween events over the years but have never been there. Probably right though, not a good place for training. Actually I don't see the reason for a spooky atmosphere for training but that's me.

If I was really going to be trained, I would want training during the day. I could see, and would be able to learn how to use the equipment in light conditions.

I sort of thought the same thing, why spooky like conditions for learning, or even the night.

Maybe it's just me, but the learning experience would just have more benefits during the day.

Did the trainers learn how to use their equipment in the dark? Probably not, and I wouldn't think even if an experienced investigator gets a new equipment, they use it during the day and night conditions. Like a try out before an investigation to learn the ins and outs.

I just read this on the site.

Successful completion of the Training along with a Passing Mark of 80 points or higher will yield you the Certificate and new NJGHS Membership card that carries the designation: Certified Paranormal Investigator.

Please know that this designation is recognized in the NJGHS and preferential consideration is given to those CPIs for the more intense cases/investigations. This certification is not nationally recognized and is not valid for any licensing requirements your state may require.

Do you need a license anywhere to Ghost Hunt???

And what happens after somebody pays, and gets under 80 points. I want to meet the first person that pays and didn't get certified.

They would be all over the internet about these people, because they paid and didn't get a certificate. They will probably say they failed because of poor training, I can just see it now. /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> The whole out come could be funny.

I have to think like the people who would go. /cool.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />

Bet everyone gets passed, I want to see the tests scores, now. /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

The high passing requirement is what screams scam to me in academia 70 is a passing grade /dry.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

I might be lying, but I'm telling the truth

My team all have ID cards but they only cost me $5 not $145.

I wonder if they carry their certificates around with them? I mean, how would anyone know they are certified unless they carried them around with them? Just curious.

Hmmmmmm

If you carry a certificate, who would you show it to, well why would you show to anyone?

I worry about people who are scammed.

LOL… I should explain. Some time ago, we had a little problem with someone using our name to get access to a place we had been. They said they knew us, etc. There was no reason for the owner to doubt them and they became a tad unprofessional and I caught heck for it.

So, I had ID cards made and the client is made aware and if some one can't produce one then they aren't one of us. Works good for us since we don't work like others and not all of us are on the same case at the same time. Besides there is a lot more at stake than the GhostBreakers in our case because of our professions.

I thinks it's smart to have ID cards for your team. I would think they are needed for your protection and your teams.

Sorry, I was just comparing the muggle card to the certificate. /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

as for the 80 points, what i read on their site was you get

50 points for attending the 4 hour class, 30 points for the

500 word "report" you have 2 weeks to turn in and 20 points

for good pictures and audio.

So basically as long as you attend for 4 hours and

write your report you get the 80 points.

That's a good idea. I hadn't actually thought of doing anything like this. Perhaps we ought to start doing this.

I just did something simple like this…

Click on the image to go to the site. I called them and they helped me design it also.
