So last night I got the "Blue Screen of Death" on my computer.

It had been acting up for a while now. I was okay with it though.

We had another computer so I just switched that one out for this

one I'm using now.

I was emailing with a friend who asked about halloween,

I was going to send a pic of Colin TorTing and it hit me.

I've lost all my pics *cry*

Most of them should be on my camera still, but I know

not all of them will be. I'm so sad just thinking about it /sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

Oh, Hiedi that's a bummer, sorry!

Maybe, it's fixable. My daughter had that, all her info was still there, it was just her screen.

We got her laptop fixed.

Heidi Ann I would venture a guess that there are probably more than a few people

on here who could walk you through retrieving that data from that computer? Sorry about

your pics if I'm wrong though! /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

that would be great, but i dont know.

right now it's sitting in the closet haha.

no matter what we tried we couldnt get

it past that dreaded blue screen.

it kept telling me to uninstall any new

programs. i havent put a new program

on in ages. even if i wanted to uninstall

i couldnt get past the blue screen to do it.

So, you couldn't go through the command prompt and start it up in safe mode?

Heidi, I'm sorry to hear about your computer. I had the same thing happen to me many years ago, and after loosing everything, I now backup to CD once a month. I should actually probably do it once per week.

This has happened to me before and I have removable hard drives and I took hard drive and they recovered everything on it. Also had it happen on a laptop and they were able to do that as well. Hope it works out ok for you.

Gee, I know all about this. I lost I don't know how many articles and other stuff the two times my new laptop had crashed. I made the mistake of pressing the power button when I got the BSOD. This would wipe everything out. I learned my lesson. Matter of fact, it would have happened again the other night with my wife using it but I was able to save everything but not pressing the power button.

Back up, back up, back up.

I had a computer die like that too – it was right when I was in the middle of my MA thesis. The poor Dell guy heard words he's probably never heard before, lol. That being said – he couldn't help me over the phone – I took my computer to my brother (who's a computer genius) and he was able to recover EVERYTHING! I bet you can find someone to at least retrieve your info. Good luck!

Welcome to my world….had total hard drive failure a few weeks back, lost everything. The programs and files did not make me upset as losing a bunch of pics of my little girl. Good thing most of them are still on my camera memory card…

I think most of my family pics will be on my memory card,

but there are pics that friends have sent me that I dont have

saved anywhere else. I hope I can get new copies of those

pics sent to me /sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

bummer & harsh, so sorry! Like so many others, I learned the hard way too and now backup pix & music regularly in a couple different spots. I don't trust external hard drives as i've heard horror stories about them as well.

I have quite a few of my pics on Photobucket. I think from now on I'll

save all of my pics there. Especially the ones that other people send

me that I wont have a back up of on my camera.

My sister uses Shutterfly for keeping vast amounts of photos online. She really likes it.

This is what you get for being Last. /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> I bet you mocked the box.

Hope you get all that data back.
