First, I agree with Lady....

Second, you are right about the credit cards Symph....I find that places like Staples, and things like that will check your card, now that everyone seems to have gone with the self swiping machines, most retailers do not bother with checking cards.....University of Delaware is known for its parties, or at least used to during my college days, I never attended that college, but heard lots of stories...Its neat you have three states to choose from as far as where to go to shop....I am stuck in the middle of the state....those pesky alcohol checkpoints are tedious, but I can't discredit them, they do catch a lot of people with DUI's. Being a small state, I know some of the troopers or friends of friends, so I usually know where the checkpoints are before they set them up....

Slightly off-topic but still about shopping... When we first moved to Massachusetts the sales tax was 5%. All we heard about before we moved is how the state gouges people on purchases, then we we move we laughed, really hard, because the sales tax was soooooo low compared to what we were used to in Ohio. At one point Cleveland's sales tax was 8%, and enough people complained that they lowered it to 7.5% which is what it is now. That's not including state tax on top of it. And what's even funnier is how when the tax in MA went up to 6.25 after we moved, people acted like it was the end of the world and they all talk how they go up to NH where it's cheapt to shop. It's amazing how different the mindset is in different parts of the States alone. It's a small culture shock going from state to state these days, but it's just funny how MA people don't realize how they do have it compared to state they feel are "cheaper". They also don't realize that if they drive an hour one way to the state with the no or less sales tax to shop for "cheap", they are using more money in gas dollars than they would spend on tax if they bought in their own home town or state. *shakes head* New Englanders are sure something else....

I worked in retail my whole life. Manager, dm, buyer, and sales rep.

The things I've seen, oh boy, and many times been assualted physically and by guns and knives.

Most recent, a pharmacy oxycontin, hold up.

This holiday season has been lovely so far. /rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> Many shoppers have no idea where their personal space begins and ends.

My daughter works for Walmart, she is a far cry from a drone, she's in her second year of nursing.

I remember last year in New York on Black Friday, shoppers before the 5 am opening, broke the glass doors and trampled a store employee to death.

Police were injured by the shoppers while trying to give the male employee cpr, as was a preganat woman.

Walmart is my most unfavorite account, mostly due to customers. The constant thinking I work for the store, and customers getting hostile while I nicely explain I don't.

Then the mutterings while they walk away. I will never shop at Walmart.

As a consumer, I think you have to realize discount does not equal service.

In Delaware where I do some of my shopping, id's are asked for on a regular basis, with purchases when using a credit card. Credit card fraud is very big.

Return scams are the highest this time of year. Most retailers are in the red before this time of year, hoping to be in the black.

All the scams, cost the consumer in the end. During this difficult time with the ecomomy, many chains are on their toes with returns and have adopted many of the retail return policies of twenty years ago. Good for them, I also as a consumer don't want to pay more.

I came home yesterday from store calls, drank a bottle of wine. I really hardly drink.

I shop on the internet, I hate going to stores any time of year. Sometimes, I even have my groceries delivered.

This time of year for work, makes me mental.

Cyber Monday, has some good deals also. I feel protected, too. /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

If you got your deals, amd made it safe to your car and home, thank god.

Parking lot theft and muggings rise now, even in what is known to be likely a safe area.

	Be careful shopping!

I'm not desperate enough for anything to go out on Black Friday. I hate shopping as is, but I can and have found just as good or better deals on things between TG and Christmas, without dealing with the crappola if I were to go out on Black Friday. We did make a "splurge purchase" online though. We wanted a GPS system to do some more traveling up and down the east coast since we're not real familiar with the roads outside of Mass and some areas in NY and CT. We got a $650 GPS system for only $214 and free shipping. Who the heck would pay full price for something like that?? My word...

I worked at JCPenneys ONE Christmas season in the Men's department. Basically my job was to assist people w/purchases/options, cashier and straightening up the section. Anyway, I get this incredibly flamboyant Asian gentleman who has me trailing after him as he shops and then the dreaded Bataan death march to the dressing rooms as he tries on his various outfits. It wouldn't have been so bad but he kept prancing and preening in front of me in various stages of undress while partially outfitted w/the clothes he'd selected asking my opinion. My nightmare ended w/him dashing out w/no pants or underpants to ask what I thought about this oxford he'd picked out, bare @$$ naked from the waist down w/his rod and reels swinging in the breeze. He even pretended he'd dropped something so he had to bend over and show me the full moon over Shanghai. I got up and told him to get dressed or i'd call the cops because there were children around. He wound up buying $600 worth of clothing and I got a nice commission off the sale, but wound up using the money to buy eye drops and counseling.

That's some of the funniest you know what I've ever heard. Oh man, I'm so sorry, but that was hysterical. People are CRAAAZZZY. /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

I swore, I mean SWORE that I would not be out shopping on Black Friday. NEVER. And after our nice peaceful mountain cabin Thanksgiving dinner, the Big Wolf and I wanted some restaurant food so we head down then mountain to No Way Jose's for a burrito and a Dos Equis Dark. Where did we wind up? The Mountain Mall! After cruising for a $6.00 parking space in the wasteland that is Gatlinburg. We did get a new pair of sunglasses and visited the Pepper Palace where you can find ANY I mean ANY type of hot sauce imaginable. $55 later as we are leaving the Pepper Palace The Big Wolf has a glazed look in his eyes and I am ready to choke someone...we decided it was best to go on back to the cabin.

No Virginia, even though there is a Santa...NO ONE SHOULD SHOP ON BLACK FRIDAY!

And Monk...I have no better luck at my Walmart. But I do have a very friendly (close to my age) cashier who waves me over every time she sees me. The only plus.

I just want to say, the wal-mart story was soo funny. I did laugh, but I need to say, my son worked at wal-mart while he was in college,. Supported his family while he was in school to become a computer tech. he was very good at his job. Loved working in electronics, just not at walmart. Not all walmart workers are drones. They are overworked and under paid. Not to mention wal mart treats their people poorly.
