So today I got the brochure with the Summer Camps my city has

available this year. Colin always does Swim Lessons, and in the

past he has done Soccer. There arent many choices for little kids.

Now that he'll be 7 there are a TON of choices.

So he was interested in Archery, Acting and Lacrosse

I told him we could only afford one…so he picked Archery

I never would have imagined he would be doing Archery /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

Should we really be teaching kids how to use weapons at 7?

How about we start teaching kids something safe, like the art of falling into a box of feathers? /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

I jest of course, but I can't imagine my daughter ever taking archery. I'd be so worried.

My guess would be that at age 7 they probably have some kind of safety tip on the arrows…

but who knows

They probably do, but you know how inventive kids can be.

Lucky! We were so poor we could only afford thick gloves as my only camp activity was catching the arrows that missed the targets from all the rich kids!

Ha! I was so poor that I got stuck at vacation bible school during the summer. Free Kool Aid though.

Was that the kool aid w/or w/out the LSD? I also went to vacation bible school, it was okay I guess, lots of singing and arts n crafts…no archery though. We may have even got a discount as my uncle was an usher in that parish…who knows

Really? VBS is free around here and runs for about two weeks. All the churches have them.

Really? Ours only lasted 2 weeks I think and you went home at the end of the day…it was like 4 hours a day or something. Perhaps it's extra expensive in New England because the folks there are extra pious and righteous? /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

I must have been really poor as a child, I never was sent to any summer camp. I know they wouldn't have allowed me to enter a bible camp, as I have been told that satan may be my dad, huh, wonder what that means.

Hell – hide the cats. At a local fairgrounds, they have a barn that says across the top cats/archery. I always thought it was the perfect combo.

/ohmy.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> /ohmy.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> mean!

we had archery in school. they are safe, and as long as they are teaching him the right way to use the bow and arrow, I dont see a problem, though seven is young.

we have church camp here,Its a week long and its a bit spendy but if you cant afford it, the church pays for it, so everyone gets to go. my son loved it. he is not a religious person but he liked camp. my daughter would have never left mommy for so long, sigh

Archery is a skill that I would promote for every child.

How basic is hunting for food. Besides how can you miss with one of these. /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
