Since I have severe asthma, both my regular doctor and allergy/asthma doctor recommended I get it. There was a student there passing out anti-vaccine literature which I have no problem with - free speech and all. However, he was pretending that he worked at the vaccine clinic and that he was handing out official information. The pamphlet opened with the '76 vaccine and how people died from it; he started saying how this was rushed through the FDA and we were the clinical trial; and then inside the pamphlet, it gave the most ridiculous effects of the vaccine (and I'm not kidding): loss of friends later in life, slurred vision and speech, difficulty walking - all of which sounds like what happens when one is loaded! Again - I have no problem with him handing out the material, but at least be honest about who you are and what you are doing, as otherwise it appears as if you are dishonest and spreading misinformation AND at least do your research! How will the anti-vaccine folks get taken seriously with yahoos like this?!

And then he also had a puppy with him to make him appear warm and fuzzy and trustworthy. It was so silly.

Oh I forgot! Another "symptom" was "you won't be able to look people in the eye." One girl read it and said, "What if I can't do that now?" LOL

Just like the measles shot and the tetanus shot, you can have a reaction to it but you are not catching the disease.

I hear this is the same swine flu that went around in the late seventies, I had it then, so probably wont get it again. the danger is not the flu itself, usually, its the pneumonia you can get afterwards. They told my Daughter in law that if it goes away and comes back with a fever then you have to worry.

Having had the H1N1 flu go through both my school and my 6 year olds,

I'm saying I now feel less worried about it. Neither of us caught it luckily.

The kids who did were very sick, but only for a few days and they are

all back now. The adults who got it were out even less time. They were

able to shake it much quicker.

If the vax ever becomes available I'm pretty sure I wont be getting

it for me or my son. My 18 year old son in college can make his

own decision on what he wants to do.

We had one woman here die from it. A lot of the kids at school got it - (thought not us) and it seems on the wane in our community now. Tanner's buddy who missed four weeks of school turned out to have mono and not swine flu.

My son's Doctor said that his office is not giving it, as there has not been alot of reseach done on it. So that tells me something.

Alot of the schools are having the shots given with a consent form. Don't think so!!!!

I recently bought Oil of Oregano that someone told me about. I have to say i think it works. Its acts as a natural antibiotic. When i thought my son was going to get sick......I gave him 5 drops in some juice. He never got sick. Maybe he was lucky, yes,...but I am hoping the Oregano did the trick.

I've already had the seasonal flu shot, and my doctor is recommending I get the H1N1 as soon as it's available - mostly because I have moderate to severe asthma and allergies. I had to get allergy shots once a week when I was a child, then was able to be off of them for a while, had to go back on in my late 20s, and am now back off of them again for a year. I have had so many allergens injected into me, I really don't think the flu shot will be much worse I guess!

I did the same thing the only time I had the flu shot. I don't get the flu often, but get a bad cold at least once a year. The research I've done on the regular flu shots said that it prevents some flu while making you more susceptible to others.

After becoming diabetic my dr insists I get the flu shot,

so I get it and never get the flu.

So for me it doesnt really matter one way or the other.

I'm a pretty healthy person when it comes to things like

that. Same with my boys. We're almost never sick.

as for H1N1, i havent decided. I work in a school, so

i'm probably going to be exposed to it eventually.

i'll think about it. i know my dr will be insisting.

To be honest and I only do this for myself but I have never had a flu shot and I've never come down with the flu. I spent a lot of my time as a little child sick and I think I built up antibodies to a lot of stuff out there. Because of my job I'll be one of the first to be offered the H1N1 shot but am considering it for my kids only, maybe my wife if she wants it.

I agree with this. Moreover, getting injected with the very virus your trying to ward off seems superfluous to me. I myself have never had a flu shot, and *knock on wood* I've never had the flu. *Shrugs* I just don't see the need.

As for my daughter, I don't know that I'd feel comfortable with her getting the shot. Again, I'd be deliberately exposing her to the virus, albeit a "watered" down version. Don't know that I could bring myself to do it.
