No, I'm not going to offer the bible, thank you. "Eye of the Storm" by James A. Forrest. Doggerel, followed by drivel, cliche, dead-metaphor, poor grammar and usage and a complete lack of understanding concerning literary devices. How this dreck was ever published is beyond me. Post up your worst.

Wait, I can't say the bible? Drat, that was my first choice too. /rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

So, I will go with ANY Stephanie Myers book. Twilight fever is a horrible condition sweeping the globe, sadly, there is no vaccine. /sleep.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' /> /angry.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

When this occurs, dissent becomes an object of surprise, if not resentment.

I cant remember the titles of books I've read that sucked /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Oh, I know one…The Outsiders

I know, I know I'm probably the only person that feeels that way

but I HATED that book. I read it a few years back because they

study that book in 8th grade. I remember laying on the couch

reading it, wishing it would end soon, and moaning quite loudly

"will this thing ever end" and my son Nick laughing at me that

I had to read a book I hated haha.

Other then that the only other torturous reading I remember

doing was actually part of my favorite book; Wicked.

The beginning of that book was probably THE most torturous

thing I ever had to read. But I paid a lot of money for that

book so I forced myself to keep going, and boy am I glad I

did. Once Elphaba went off to college the book became amazing

and turned into my favorite book of all time /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> . I just wish the

beginning wasnt so awful.

I made myself read 3 1/2 of the Twilight books (couldnt make it through all of the last one)

so I could be closer to my students /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' /> , I wont say they were awful, but they sure werent

great either haha

oh, and i can get turned off a book because of the stupidest little "error"

nick still loves to joke with me about the time i was reading a book, it

was a good book, and then in one part the truck makes a quick, sharp

left turn and the passenger slides into the driver. /huh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' /> , she would

have slid into the door, not the driver. ruined the rest of the book for

me /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' /> (sadly i'm being serious /unsure.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> )

ANYTHING by danielle steele, jackie collins, shite of that nature. i cannot abide any of them. when quizzing one of cait's english teachers at the beginning of one year, i asked about what the kids would be reading as cait had already done 'to kill a mockingbird' at home and the teacher said: 'i haven't thot about it: i was so into danielle steele over the summer…' cait spent 10 minutes trying to convince her that HERMIONE was pronounce her-MY-o-knee and not her-me-OWE-knee. i got her transferred next day…

as to the worst book, i didn't care for the 'left behind' series that was highly recommended. they just felt simplistic, manipulative and formulaic.

maybe i would have felt different if i had read it first as a teen.

reading it fresh as an adult, i just couldnt stand it. and i didnt

know at the time, but i kept saying to myself "this was written

by a woman". I could just tell.

like i said, i know i'm unusual in this. the english teacher

use to always have a lot of fun every year when it was

time to do The Outsiders. telling the kids how it's Mrs D's

favorite book and stuff like that haha

Oh yeah, I think it's a much different read as a teen compared to as an adult.

Not that it's bad fiction I'm sure, but I have tried about five times to read 'The Great Gatsby' and I have never made it through the first chapter.

I always seem to fall into a daydream or my mind wanders while trying to read that book and I don't know why that is.

Well, I'd argue that . . . No, that violates the spirit of the thread.

I've read the twilight series… my IQ dropped a good 10 points and have never been so insulted as a woman in my entire life! I twitch whenever someone tells me how much they love it. GAH The chick who wrote it is on the top of my "People I would walk up and slap if i ever saw in public" list.

2012? Seriously? I survived Y2K, 9/11, 6/6/6, 9/9/9, H1N1, & Swine Flu. BRING IT ON!!!

I hate that teen age girls wish they were Bella and want a guy like Edward.

OMG! he's such an a$$. I worry what this is doing to our girls /unsure.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

I remember saying at school that Edward was a jerk and a 6th grade girl

said to me "no he's not, would a jerk say…." and then she quoted some

stupid line of Edwards. I looked at her and /rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

If a book is dreck, I stop reading and immediately scrub it from my memory. It's better that way.

and by the way – Gosh it's good to see you, Pynki!

Yeah – Twilight is one of the worst rescue fantasies I've ever read. I hear teen aged girls and their moms love it though.
