I've watched each episode so far and I think it's pretty good. I do like that there is no "prize" and that they have supposed experts talking about the psychological and physical stresses. Even though it is all made up, I think they may still have some true reactions to unexpected events.

When the woman was abducted I must say that I was freaked out. I was mad that she went off by herself and made herself vunerable. I thought about what would be happening in real life when a young woman is taken. The fact that she could be used and abused as a commodity is a sad truth.

I believe that to a point it was staged...to a point in that she was probably 'told' to go ther to pick berries as in the first season the Doctor dissapeared and was never heard from again. Also, one of the abductors could be ehard whispering toher but what he was saying I couldn't make out. They stopped trying to tie her wrists and legs together so it looked like she was told "hey we're not going to hurt you just yell and we'll cary you off."

I think you hit the nail on the head as to why it feels contrived to me. They may be playing at end of the world scenarios - but it is hard to make that very real, I think. But then, I also was never any good at RPG stuff - and this is sort of like a big RPG, I guess.

All these "reality" shows are a little staged. I mean come on Survivor? They all go around 'starving' while the crew eats at the buffet line? Big Brother? You mean they don't know the cameras are rolling in their bedrooms when they are stoinking under the covers?

For some reason I think most if not all of the contestants are actors. Last season I thought one of the guys does some commercial for cialis or some cholesteral medicine or what have you...lol

Well I figure as a "contestant" on this show, I would always have a notion in the back of my head that the producers of the show would not put me in a situation that would involve serious bodily harm or death. There fore, how real could these scenarios be? If the crap were to hit the fan, I'd know that a hospital would be .5 mile away, and an ambulance is waiting 2 blocks over to whisk me there, not necessarily a real life occurrence under this supposed scenario....

Look at the one scenario I just saw that I caught 5 minutes of. One of the cast members was "kidnapped" and the kidnappers wanted fuel, medicine and food, and if they dont get it, they will hurt the cast member? Yeah right, how serious will they hurt her...

i've caught a little bit of it, I was into the first one they did, it was decent. This one I just can't seem to keep my eyes open...I am hoping that Discovery runs a marathon on the weekend soon so I can catch up with it...
