It's not the only notorious Long Island house on the market. Recently, the East Meadow expanded ranch where serial killer Joel Rifkin used to live, sometimes bringing victims back to the house, was listed for $424,500.

In my opinion? A story and nothing more... but one that has stood the test of time.

realize THIS is the house because it does look different. imagine buying the

house not realizing and then suddenly you have people hounding you to go in

your house and taking pics and videos all the time. why would anyone WANT to

live in it. i bet it gets crazy there around Halloween

True. Honestly they've done so much to it I had to look twice to realize. If the people dont realize then they will be in for a shock. If they do they should keep their number unlisted lol.

Iv heard about the people trespassing. Id get a dog and have the police on speed dial. A few bites and trips to jail should deter most people.

I would too and am sure everyone connected with the Amityville movies with a few bucks are contimplating it righ now. Problem is the area which is not great for tourist traffic except for the occassional gawker. Doubt it would sit well with the neighbors either.

However, if I win the lottery before it is sold I have an idea...

Its actually a pretty nice house in a nice area. Doesnt look like they are trying to boost profits by the "haunting". But I too thought they had to disclose all the history of the house and nothing is mentioned. Thats how it is here, maybe not in New York. Im interested to see who buys it and if they know anything about the house or just stumble on it. And come on haunted or not the murders alone will give that house a name. So what could an investigation hurt to settle it once the old owners move out if no one has moved in yet? Didnt something come out a while ago though about how the haunting admittedly wasnt real?

We actually have a realtor on our team. They are looking into the sale of the house for us. No, I can't afford it. It's pure curiosity.

There is no law that we can find that says you have to volunteer information on a haunting since there is no actual proof that hauntings are real. However, if you specifically ask about anything related to a potential purchase of a property the realtor must be truthful in their answers. Unlike if something is physically wrong with the house that has to be revealed up front.

Besides, a person probably would have had to be living under a rock not to have heard at least some of the stories. lol

As far as the stories being true... Over the years there have been several people that have come forth that have admitted it was all fabricated to make a buck. Then too there are just as many that say the haunting was true. No one knows for sure. They did ghost hunting back then with no results. Hans Holzer even said the house was ok but that he thought it was the area. Keep in mind everyone who investigated the house was of some celebrity status and had personal motives for looking into the stories. Great exposure.

The only definite thing I can see is that in the almost 40 years since the original story nothing else has happened. This really doesn’t matter I guess when you look at the property in a commercial sense. All the stories, books and movies still make it an interesting place for the paranormal enthusiast.
