OfflineMovies do not scare me as much as books, and the scariest books I have ever read have never made it to the box office. If you all want some good scary reading, some reading that will make you turn the lights on and load the shotgun, then here you go:
1. "A Winter Haunting," by Dan Simmons
2. "Blood Games," by Richard Laymon
3. "The Church of Dead Girls," by Stephen Dobyns
4. "In The Dark," by Richard Laymon
5. "Darkness Tell Us," by Richard Laymon
*Special Note: All the books mentioned above have "plugs" in them by "Stephen King." ENJOY!!!

Thanks Midnight.
I'll check some of them out.
OfflineWrightGhost, you are welcome.
OfflineI have never read "Summer Of Night." I have probably read less than 20 novels in my whole life. I read more documentary stuff, but every now and then I like a scary book. Right now I am reading "Heart-Shaped Box" by Joe Hill.

Summer of Night was good. It was all about when Dale was a kid and the stuff that happened in the town.

Well, this "Heart-Shaped Box," by Joe Hill is about a guy who is a guitarist in a Rock-N-Roll Band, and he has two dogs named "Angus" and "Bon." He collects unusual items, so one day he sees an ad on the Internet to purchase the ghost of this lady's dead father. So he does, he buys the ghost, and she ships it to him in a "Heart-Shaped Box." I am on chapter 20. Let me tell you, so far, this is one wild story! lol

Who wrote "Cold Blooded?"
OfflineI found it. "Cold Blooded," by Lisa Jackson(2002).
Oh, don't forget to read the sequel, because there was supposed to be one. lol
OfflineYou were answering while I was typing. lol
OfflineReading The Amityville Horror at 15 was a creepy experience, then saw the original movie at a drive-in…nuff said! Poltergeist got to me cuz I had a big tree outside my bedroom…and clown dolls REALLY freak me out.
I started reading Stephen King with Salem's Lot and kept on up to Gerald's Game. I remember many times reading all night because if I put the book down, I had to turn the lights off!
Seven horrified me because it played on the most base human behavior imaginable.

OfflineOh me too, Heidi. It might be the only book that has ever legitimately scared me. But now I have some great suggestions! Keep them coming.

I think it scared me so much because it was REAL, well at the time I believed it was haha.
It's like when I read crime novels.
The fiction ones never bother me,
but if i'm reading about some real
sadistic rapist, killer, etc then it
really bothers me.
OfflineSee – we're a group of not easily scared people. Which begs the question – what kind of a book/movie would be super scary??
I'm with Teresa, by the way – I hate clowns. They freak me out.
There's a commercial on TV right now about the USPS and its flat rate boxes that features a family peeking into the house at a creepy clown doll trying to figure out how to get rid of it. I can totally relate to that commercial!
