Saw a full set of Harry Potter hardcovers in very good condition for $25.00 at my favorite thrift shop. Is that a good deal?

yes, you don't even want to know what I spent on the box set that only had the first 6 books…criminal

Anybody have any thoughts on J.k. Rowling's website her publishing company put up.

Pottermore.com coming soon!

This and the last trailer for HP7 Part two just released.

Maybe it's the encyclopedia she talked about last year.

I've ruled out games, theme park, web sites it's all been done.

She stated there would be no more Harry Potter Books.

Darn, I hope it's a wizarding school. I'm in! I'll take anything, though.

This all can't be over, maybe she feels her fans need more.

I do! /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

I went back and bought the set today. The girl at the thrift shop said it was a donation rather than a consignment and that's why it had such a good price. So I got all 7 hardcovers in very good condition for $25.00!

Yes, there should be more but maybe something unexpected and never done before. Expect the unexpected, I say!

It's been quite a few months since I posted to this thread, but I thought I would stop in finally and update.

Back in Feb. I was asking for advice on whether or not to let my now 8 year old continue on to book 4 and 5. After hearing everyone's opinions and talking to a couple of friends who have children close in age who are reading at a high level….I decided to let him continue on. He already finished book 4 and is a quarter of the way into book 5. I think he is mature and intelligent enough for his age to handle the relationships in the stories and how the stories get "darker" with my guidance. Anyway, just thought I would come back and update about that.

Also, so VERY excited about Pottermore! Only 20 more days until Deathly Hallows part 2. I'm going to bawl my eyes out.

I'm sure some of the bigger book sellers (Barnes & Nobles etc) will have good deals w/the release of the last movie. Many moons ago when I was in retail and in the book business, they would have these promotional "tie ins" for movies and offer deep discounts on boxed sets and such. JKR doesn't really NEED to do that, but we'll see…. I bought the box set (at the time it was 6 books)at Costco, but made the cardinal sin of lending it to a younger family member who promptly "lost" the book…to say it damaged my relationship w/that part of family would be an understatement. The way I was raised, if you borrow something you return it in similar or better condition then you got it and do so promptly. I guess that's an antiquated notion…common decency/courtesy these days.

***edit…for the individual hardcovers when they were initially released it was about the same here, but some of the book sellers offer deep discounts on popular hardcover best sellers, it's just more practical to buy the box sets…****

Well, The critics are giving Harry Potter rave reviews while the die hard potter fans are saying it sucked. ( it was released today over seas) I don't know how I feel about this being a potterhead. Does this mean I will hate it? It's possible, There's only 2 out of the 7 movies so far that i actually like enough to re-watch. I will end people if they ****ed up the last movie.

On the season premiere of "ugly americans" on comedy central they do a slight homage to harry potter that i found amusing, but I'm sure would make Pynki furious…or not as they are sort of mocking Harry Potter himself and not her beloved Weasleys. And as SFTD pointed out seeing Fiona Shaw in True Blood this year…i'm only seeing Petunia Dursley…
