“Really, Dumbledore, you think you can explain
all this in a letter? These people will never understand him! He’ll be
famous — a legend — I wouldn’t be surprised if today was known
as Harry Potter Day in the future — there will be books written
about Harry — every child in our world will know his name!”
When writing this passage J.K. Rowling couldn't possibly imagine how true this would be.

Wow Pynki, you got me again- those were amazing videos.
I am SO GLAD that I listened to everyone's recommendations and entered the world of Harry Potter. It is my bedtime reading choice now and I am just tickled "Pynk" that I got on board the Hogwart's Express before the last train left the station. /rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

I agree that JKR could not have known nor dared to dream of the power of her written words. I, for one, am so grateful that she wrote them anyway!

LOL
You know what the sad thing is the majority of my family never read Harry Potter. It's a shame, I'm pestering my sister to read it but she refuses it being a childrens book and all. If she only knew.
There is this documentary out "A year in the life of JK Rowling" thats amazing. Theres this one part where she returned to the apartment where she started writing the books as a single mother struggling to make ends meet and she cries a bit remembering how hard it was in those days. What makes it perfect is that on the book self of one of the rooms is the Harry potter series.

OfflineHey Pynki, has there been a decision yet in that court case against JKR? I'm being lazy and don't feel like looking it up…lol.
For those of you who may NOT know, JKR is/was being accused of plagurising another author's concept and using it as a basis for one of her books (the Goblet of Fire, if I'm not mistaken). The basis for the lawsuit according to the author's estate is similarity of content and the fact that one of the literary executives who represented the accusing author during his lifetime, also worked for the publishing house (??) that JKR was with at the time of GOF's release. Something to that effect, I'm sure Pynki could verify or clarify any muddy parts here.
Personally, I think that it's such a generic concept story line…and the depth of information in hers as opposed to the accuser is like night and day, I think there's a coincidence, but not anything deliberate or malacious.

Successful authors are always being accused of stealing other people's ideas. Stephen King even wrote a great story about it.

You know, speaking of Stephen King, I think I heard somewhere that he's writing a couple of episodes of the upcoming season of Walking Dead…

LMFAO I just loved this one, not only was the author already dead when this claim was made but what they accused her of was hysterical. They said that Miss Rowling stole the idea of wizards travailing by train ( yes because people riding trains to get from point A to point B is such a foreign concept) and that the idea of wizards competing agents each other wasn't hers. (because competition's not the oldest form of entertainment and there isn't this ancient structure in Rome famous for just that.) JK Rowling pwns all. The case was thrown out, as we knew it would be.
