Man you work fast! I wasn't sure if it belonged here or not, sadly I'm not the mod here…oh well I doubt there'll be too much need for that sort of supervision here. Perhaps a poll is in order, do folks prefer the movies or the books, something along those lines.

Which book is your favorite? Do you have a favorite? Do you just look at it as one huge saga just divided up into seven installments?

I really enjoyed the books more. I just started on year six yesterday. The movies are nice because they really put a face to the books. Of the movies I really like Order of the Phoenix, Luna Lovegood has become my favorite character in there.

Then there are the other books following Harry's son but that's another matter.

I LOVE the books. I just read them over and over (about to start on another cycle yet again lol). The movies arent bad. They are entertaining but I wouldnt recommend anyone watching them until they read the books.

Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they:

(1) eat less,

(2) don’t ask for money all the time,

(3) are easier to train,

(4) normally come when called,

(5) never ask to drive the car,

(6) don’t smoke or drink,

(7) don’t want to wear your clothes,

(8) don’t have to buy the latest fashions,

(9) don’t need a gazillion dollars for college and

(10) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children ..

Yeah, I was/am a huge fan of the Weasley twins…they rule! I'm not sure where exactly we could put a Harry Potter thread here but it would be cool to have one to "geek out" in.

When you saw how tormented his youth was, it made the indifference nature of his death even more painful to "witness". I got real worked up at Dobby's death too, that whole sequence was beautifully written.

:: points to icon:: I LOVE the Weasley twins! they are/were all shades of AWESOME!

When I read Fred's death I didnt cry I refused to believe he was gone. I honestly thought he was just knocked unconscious and they were over reacting. It wasnt till the scene in the great hall that I lost it I had to put the book down and just cry, he was my favorite twin. I was so angry a part of me didn't wanna finish the book.

I really felt for Snape. After founding out about his home life i had to just marvel at the brilliance of Miss Rowling. You have Harry and Voldemort who both had a similar unloved childhood, One rose above it while the other succumbed to it. Then she gives us Snape who too was an unloved child and shows us that its never to late to redeem yourself and that Love truly an save someone. Beautiful.

Dobby… that pulled on my heartstrings hard, Harry needing to dig his grave by had and Ron and Dean helping.. Uhh That passage was breathtaking. It was so full of the respect and love Dobby deserved. It broke my heart.

Hedwig too was sad.. She was his link to the magical world when he was stuck with the Dursleys His only companion during those times.

You know who i lost it for too Colin Creevey. He idolized Harry. That was hard especially after Fred, Lupin, and Tonks

the movies are ok the books are better but thats how it goes apparently.

Its just one huge saga divided up into seven installments to me, but if i had to choose one i would have to say that Half Blood Prince would be my favorite. I'm a huge huge HUGE Ron and Hermione shipper and that was the book that everything was laid out on the table. It was also the book where the $hi+ hit the fan.

Question. What house is every one in. I my friends am a Hufflepuff.

OMG Colin's death was also so sad…and you are correct the sequence of their deaths just brought home what a desperate struggle it was…just like the ultimate sacrifice of harry's parents (the revelation that his father was a bully was a real turn off to both him AND Sirius for me as I loathe bullies). Oddly enough I never felt that Lupin was a bully so I wasn't soured to him as much…Wormtail was a traitor so that speaks for himself. Snape, Harry & Voldemorte were called Hogwart's lost boys in the books by JK herself. Hogwarts was their common refuge and TRUE home. It was where they came into their own. I would also say that my favorite defense against the dark arts teacher was Mad Eye Moody (even though technically it was Bartie Crouch Jr. by way of Polyjuice potion)…Lupin would be a close second) and he was another who's death saddened me. I liked them all for different reasons…I liked COS which I thought was the "darkest" of them all, however 3-6 were good (agree w/Heidi67 on that) but I did enjoy DHs although saddened it was the last, I still liked it.

I thought the books were better then the movies, but as others have mentioned, the movies sort of flesh out the literature a bit, but they leave so much by the wayside. Oh well, can't have everything.
