Last night on HBO we caught "The Town", which is the Ben Affleck project. He wrote, directed and acted in it not too bad, not a big fan of his, but it was enjoyable. Also Pete Postlewhite's last project. Not a bad rental. 3.5 out of 5 nanners

Wife and I finally saw the last Harry Potter movie. It was okay, not the greatest. Just glad it's over.

I liked it a lot, up until the 19 years later bit. That just made me shake my head.

I thought Insidious was pretty good. Very enjoyable for me.

Saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes on Friday. It was okay, but overall, I was underwhelmed.

I recently rented the Town and really enjoyed it, growing up south of Boston, the Charlestown code of silence is legendary.

We saw Cowboys and Aliens, it was good (not great) and even though Steven Spielberg and Ron Howard had nothing to do with it, I was a bit teed off at the overuse of salt on my $10.00 bucket of popcorn.

Hope to see Return of the Planet of the Apes soon.

I think it's an outrage what they charge for a bottle of water at the movies, a small bottle (16.8 oz) $5.75 (and in california + tax + CRV) The other day when Monkette and I went we got two small bottles of water and a large coffee (for her not me). It was around $12 just for that. The weekend before I stopped at 7-11 first bought the same thing except that the water was the next largest size up (usually the one with the "sports top") and it cost me $4.75 for everything. And as we all know 7-11 isn't exactly the cheapest place to buy stuff either. Not sure the next movie on the "hit list". Still haven't seen captain america but I hear Hugo Weaving is awesome as the Red Skull.

I saw it in July and I did really like it. I thought it was better than the part 1. Except for the end which was a bit lame.

I saw Town and am still surprised that Ben Affleck isn't more successfull. I saw Company Men and liked it. I think he is very talented. I am looking forward to more of his projects.

My hubby rented Insidious. I don't like horror movies but I guess for what it is, it was ok.

I really want to see Cowboys and Aliens. Was going to see it this weekend, but my kids were turds so they got grounded, which means we got grounded too /dry.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

I just want to say that, to me, Burlesque was good. The music was just fabulous and the storyline was cleaver. And I love Cher, so it was good to see her, and Christina really did pretty good for being her first movie. Her voice so is just incredible!!

Forgot to post this yesterday, but Monkette and I went and saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

We liked it despite the damage the Tim Burton version caused AND the cheesiness of the original Roddy McDowell/Charleton Heston. Decent cast and fast paced this movie was entertaining and setting up the framework for more of them. There were all kind of little nods to the original POTA movies (like the deformed chimp who will later ultimately become the general, the orangataun who is destined to become a politician and the quick introduction of "Cornelia"). Also what appeared to be a Gorillas in the Mist reference. I recognized the attic window as the logo or standard the apes used in the original as their own "mark". Also they show the manned Mars mission that NASA loses contact with etc….

Now for the technical stuff. There were quite a few LOTR alumnus behind the camera for this one, which is no suprise considering the fact of what they were able to do with "Gollum". There were moments that it didn't "work" but for the most part it did, at least for us.

Tom Felton (aka Draco Malfoy) was in it but I hope that he doesn't get type casted but at least he's working.

I would give it 3.5 to 4 nanners out of 5.

I really liked Insidious, thought it was great start to finish. I must admit, I had low expectations so perhaps I was pleasantly surprised.

I agree with you about Ben Affleck, he was GREAT in The Town and I heard he has another project coming soon in which he stars, directs, produces, etc.

We saw Planet of the Apes and it was really good, too! Glad it wasn't cheesy like Monk mentioned the other one was /rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Just watched Case 39 and it was creeeeeeeeeeeeepy, that little girl is either a great actress or she is a demon for sure! I don't usually like Renee Zelwegger but she did a decent job in this one so maybe she can do more than romantic comedies afterall!

Went to see Midnight in Paris and I liked it. There were so many literary and art references which made it fun to watch and they threw in a little time travel which made it interesting. I am not a big Woody Allen movie but at least he wasn't IN it so that was a relief.

Paranormal Activity 3 sucked.

It was a ripoff. None of the good scenes from the trailers were in the movie. The whole movie was only 1hr and 20 mins long.
