It was based on a priest from (of all places) right here in San Francisco…interesting interview

Did you read or see an interview with the priest?

Yes he appeared on the local morning news and was being interviewed by one of the arts and entertainment people who was sticking to the argument that there was no such thing as possession and it was all a case of mental illness or attention seeking fraud. The priest acknowledged a large number of cases he examined fell into those categories (more to the mental illness), but there were plenty of legitimate cases that couldn't be classified into anything other then possession. The interviewer seemed skeptical, but the priest said that when he'd begin the rites that the physical appearance of the subject would change and when they'd starting fighting back in arcane Latin he knew he was dealing w/the real thing. When the interviewer pressed him on what he meant by physical appearance changing, he said they would take on reptilian appearance etc. It was really interesting, I looked for a link but found nothing, his name is Father Gary Thomas, he spends time in San Jose and San Francisco.

That's very interesting. At the end of the movie it did say that it was based on a true story and that one of the priests portrayed in the movie still works in the Chicago area. If I come across anything, I will post it.

Yeah, that was the gist of what he said on the TV interview. He didn't expect everyone to believe him, but he knows what he saw and it was no joke!

I would've gone to see it in the theater, but I could live without Monkette jumping up and yelling "THAT'S NOT FOR YOU

B!TCH!!" if Jolie kisses The Depp! It's funny but can be embarrassing if we're asked to leave.

Anybody see the new Anthony Hopkins movie The Rite yet? We did and it scared my hubby half to death!

Chad and I saw The Rite today. We really liked it. Intense yet subtle at the same time. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it.

We liked it too. Anthony Hopkins still brings it to the screen. The woman reporter looked familiar to me, was she in Knowing with Nicholas Cage?

Anthony Hopkins is just so engaging isn't he!

OMG, it was really bugging me who the reporter was. I think you are right about her being the actress in Knowing.

I looked it up, her name is Alice Braga and she was not in Knowing. She was in I Am Legend.

I just got my netflix delivery so I'll be watching Stephen King's approved version of the Shining. I don't think it will measure up to Kubrick's film but I will give it a go.

I'll have to see this, you all enjoyed it. Anthony Hopkins is one of the very few finest actors of our time.

The man has made some bad screen plays, great!

We went and watched the Rite tonight. It was strange. Hopkins did a great job in there. I don't think I'll be buying it on DVD when it comes out though.

The Wolfman was on cable a couple of times yesterday (the latest one w/Benecio) and I'm not sure whether it was intended (makeup, lighting etc) but he looks really sickly. I know in real life he's a heavy smoker and I've not seen him in anything else recently (I am NOT GOING to sit around for 6 hours and watch Che…sorry)

I don't think he needs any makeup to look sickly, I've seen him in interviews and at awards shows and he does not have any sort of healthy glow. Dude needs a day st the spa!

Che was very good, I did it in several evenings, though. /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Benico is one of my favorites, but I thought The Wolfman was meh.

I felt for his character, that was about it. One of the few movies, I wasn't feeling the Hopkins vibe, and he is a great actor.

Benico sort of always looks like this, in Things We Lost In The Fire, he played a drug addict. Good movie, but his make up seemed minimal.

I watched Let Me In, last night. To me this was one of the best movies of the year, A remake of Let The Right One In, which was excellent.

I was very surprised, and wasn't expecting much going in, but a very welll done movie. I was more drawn to the charcters in the remake.

Interesting tale of a vampire child. The girl from Kick azz, Chloe Moretz is in this, she is quite the actress and will have an amazing career.
