My favorite TV show is coming back after being off the air for six years. They were resigned to do 26 new episodes. I'm so excited. I can't wait till it airs again.

"But I am already in my pajamas."

I saw Futurama is coming back and am guessing this is what you're referring to. The same fate as Family Guy, cancelled but then dvd sales pushed them back into the forefront again!

That's the show. For some reason I love watching it but I can't stand the Simpson's anymore.

I used to like the Simpsons but after hearing about a snarky move they did against Family Guy, that resulted in partial censorship of an episode,I just can't look at the show or Fox the same way. Yes, it's brilliant and funny, but I'm saddened that they can dish out jabs but can't take it!

Every episode is packed with so many science fiction references, and some really good science too. If you listen to the DVD commentary track you gain a whole new perspective on the show. Futurama also has many quotable lines. The robot villager in: The Were-car, "I choose to believe vat I vas programed to believe!" I love how they changed the name of the planet Uranus, "so people would stop making that joke once and for all!" The punchline to that one may be stupid, but it always kills me. "What did they change it to?" Some of the detail alone, the way they use CGI in certain scenes, and I liked Billy West since the Howard Stern days before Ren and Stimpy. I was surprised to hear Fry shout: "Howard Stern is overrated!" upon his first return to Old New York.

Me too, I actually thought his Marge Schott, Al Michaels and Larry Fine stuff was brilliant. Also his razzing of Jackie constantly. I'm not sure whether you know it or not, but Billy West made an appearance on Jackie's one hour show on Howard 101 about 2 weeks ago. Partially to promote the latest DVD release of Futurama and his appearance in Jackie's weekly show on Broadway at the Iridium. I know they'd been trying to get Billy on Stern's own show not only on terrestrial radio but also satellite for years but he's always turned them down citing a variety of reasons. They eventually gave up trying and talked about his possibly having an axe to grind over salary. They even had a Billy West special on the Sirius Stern Channels a few months back that focused on his legacy w/the show over the years and was brilliant (of course). But it seems as though he's got some real animosity towards the show in general and/or Howard in particular. During the course of his time on Jackie's show he fielded calls from fans and talked about the old days referring to his time on the show as "my time in ny morning radio " and refused to use Howard's name at all. He also let drop a few barbs about how he had to leave "ny morning radio" because it's too expensive to live there and work for free too. I also believe Billy had hard feelings towards them after they sneak attacked him by bringing John K in for an interview after he was fired by Nickelodeon and Billy had resigned to do both voices on Ren & Stimpy which was the first time they'd been face to face since the firing. Very sad.

I can't find the youtube clip right now but I saw vid of Billy West speaking to a convention about his time in NY radio. He described Howards' humor as "dark". I can't disagree, and I guess it could be something he just wants to distance from his life. I have Sirius for my car and home, but I've had to cut back on all expenses, so it hasn't been active lately. Sorry I missed Billy on Sirius, he's a riot.

I'm obsessed with finding interesting youtube vids. This is in my "favorites" pages. The futurama theme was based on Pierre Henry's 1967 "Psyché Rock". <Click that.

Futurama cast 'in doubt over pay' Animated comedy Futurama could be voiced by new actors after the studio behind its comeback failed to reach an agreement with the original cast. This is less "Good News" than it should be. Grr!

Isn't that always the way? Reminds me of a cutaway bit from Family Guy where Peter complains about the Muppets and the ill timed passing of Muppet creator Jim Henson. It was something about you know what that means, wrong sounding muppets. And it had really bad Swedish chef and Kermit on there. Though I am a big Billy West fan and always feel that people should be properly compensated for their talent, this is not a shock. Part of his ill feelings towards The Stern Show stems from $$$ (also not a shock). Hope they manage to work something out. That could ruin the show before it ever re-airs!

From Gizmodo.com:

How did we miss this news?! Thanks to the mighty power of nerd outrage, Futurama will be returning to TV with all of its original voices intact rather than with soundalikes.

Here's the letter that was sent to anyone who harassed casting director Scott Muller:

Dear Futurama Fan,

Thank you for voicing your strong support for Futurama and the original voice cast. We appreciate the time you took to fire off a thoughtful and/or concerned and/or homicidal e-mail message to our casting director, Scott Muller. (Rest assured, not a single one of these e-mails reached the actual decision-makers at 20th Century Fox Television. For future reference, please note that Scott Muller is in fact one of Futurama's biggest fans, and was instrumental in bringing about the return of the cast. Please hoist a bottle of Olde Fortran for Scott!)

Speaking of the cast returning… good news, everyone! The cast is returning! All of our series regulars are back in action for Season 6. Billy West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, and David Herman are all on board and have already begun delivering their customary virtuoso performances. The all-new Futurama episodes are slated to air on Comedy Central beginning in June, 2010.

We are extremely grateful for the outpouring of support for the series. Your loyalty over the years has kept the show going through its original four seasons on FOX, its subsequent reincarnations on Adult Swim and DVD, and now its Bendiferous return to life on Comedy Central. See you in the (near) future!

Sincerely,

David X. Cohen & Matt Groening

There is over 2 hours of conversation between Host Kevin Pollock and the guys who do Fry and Bender, a lot of laughs (and some "blue" humor too).

The Kevin Pollock Chat Show – Ep. 38(Jan 25th) with Billy West & John DiMaggio. Kevin hosts voice over actors Billy West (Futurama, Ren& Stimpy) & John DiMaggio (Futurama, Gears of War)

Length is 2hrs, 24mins. If you want to get right to the interview, jump to the 18 minute point. Most of the humor is not visual so you can hang out on the forums or whatever while you listen.
