Offlinei have been a fan of dr who since the tom baker series in the late '60s. i haven't been a fan of all of them, but from peter davison on they've been pretty good. the last two, christopher eccleston and david tennant have been GREAT. the writing has been darker and more interesting. the series has been revived completely.
it's always hard for those of us who love the series to have to give up the current dr to his new incarnation…this new guy is very young and just doesn't have the look to me. i know, i know, i have to give him a few episodes to get to know him and he will bring his own mark to the role and all will be fine. yadda yadda yadda
BUT!! i am going to miss david tennant's dr. he brought fun, elan, passion and a human vulnerablility to the dr that will be difficult to top, at least for me.
i am going to cry the last episode with him.
ALONZI!

OfflineI like Tenant as The Doctor, but I really liked Eggleston because he was such a contrast to most others who played the roll. He can play such a dark character if you've seen him in other roles. I think he (Eggleston) would be really good at playing The Master.
How cool would that be if The Master took on one of The Doctor's previous incarnations by stealing The Dr's DNA.

ohhhh! what a cool idea, goat! i had the same pangs i am suffering now when Eccleston left. he had not watched the dr much growing up so he really did bring a different slant to his characterization. but when he came on the scene, some fans were really pi$$ed that he dressed differently etc. did you ever see Shallow Grave? he was really creepy in that one. /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />
i think Tenant was a good choice to follow as he was so manic in comparison. but it took me awhile to get over Eccleston's leaving. every regeneration i have to keep telling myself: it's just a telly show, stupid! /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

I just hope 'The New Kid' doesn't bring some hip, cool updated characteristics to the role. We don't need an updated, new and improved (improved by today's lower standards) Doctor. We need THE DOCTOR.
PS people need to not quote me until I've had a chance to correct all of my spelling errors. /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

OfflineCrap, then I missed one. I know the next one was something like the Planet of Water or something.
it's The Waters of Mars and will air on BBC America on 19 December 2009. i think it will segue into the final david tennant episodes.

Offlinewell. end of time is over and so end david tennant's tenure as the doctor. he broke my heart in this episode and i cried like a baby. it was actually done in a fairly restrained manner that i found much more moving than if he'd gone overboard…
anyway, they showed the new doctor for just a wee bit at the end as they do after regeneration: ugly young bugger, but i will give him a few episodes to get used to him and give him a fair chance. it appears they may be going for a bit lighter, more adventurous 1st series as the past 3 series have been rather dark. i should be used to losing doctors by now, but dt was very hard to let go.

I cried enough last week. I'll probably be a blubbering idiot when I watch this episode. I'm waiting for Chad to get home from work so we can watch it together. Chad will cry too so I'll be in good company. LOL

my 25yr old son was sniffling and snuffling; i was outright sobbing! i mean, it's just so freakin' david tennant moving!! i won't give any spoilers, but i am not as worried about matt smith after seeing him for the few seconds they show as the regenerated dr…actually had me laffing thru my snot-soaked tissue. /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />
heidi: i know. it's hard when you fall in love with a doctor, ain't it??? /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

yes it is /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

to me McCoy IS the doctor, i know i'm really unusual in that,
im sure the list of people who choose him as their favorite
dr is very, very short (maybe even only 1 person long /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

plus I'm no good with change, and i can get very stubborn /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

i use to watch Law & Order, when Michael Moriarty left
i stopped watching for YEARS.

yeah, that's a hard one for doctor who fans. i didn't watch much during mc coy's tenure due to kids, work etc. i watched some during peter davidson's time as i loved him as tristan farnon in all creature's great and small. but i didn't really start watching the dr again til christopher eccleston, who was so different that i had no problem with comparing him to any of the 'older' incarnations'. the changes were so great that i think it was easier to move on for me than it might have been otherwise.
