I'm a big fan of the British sci-fi series Doctor Who, and I have been since the early 80's. My favorite Doctor is, surprisingly, David Tennant who usurped my former favorite Tom Baker. In addition to having around 30 episodes of The Classic Series on DVD, most of them with Tom as the Doctor, I also watch the new series as well. I was just wondering, are there other fans of the show on here? Have you ever watched The Classic Series? If so, did you like it, and what do you think of the new series?

Oh hell yeah.

Did you watch the new one from last weekend? The Next Doctor. It was pretty good. It caught us off guard being a new one. Also my wife and I can't wait for Torchwood to start up.

I got hooked on it as a kid as well but didn't really get into it till the 9th doctor took over. He's still my favorite followed by David Tennant. From what I've read I don't know if I will like the next doctor. He seems to be getting younger and younger as the show goes on. Kinda of like Mork.

I use to watch it. I've never seen the new episodes of it.

I'm very unusual, my favorite Doctor was 7, Sylvester McCoy /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />

Oh yes, Doctor Who fan here.

Used to watch the Tom Baker shows as a kid, and Chad got me back into the new series with DT.

I'm really bummed that DT will not be the Doctor anymore, because he was my favorite. /sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />

I completely forgot that MK gets BBC America. I could have been watching the show, or at least reruns, all this time.

As for Torchwood, I have never seen an episode, but I will definitely check it out now that I have access to it.

And I definitely think the new Doctor is very young, but who knows, we might be referring to him as the "Great One" instead of Tennant in a few years.

McCoy was a good Doctor, I even have a few of his Episodes on DVD. I know of a few people on the Sci-Fi/Doctor Who boards who list Sylvester McCoy as their favorite.

My least favorite Doctor was Colin Baker, but I think his lack of success was mainly due to bad writing.

It's okay sweets, change is the nature of the show. I think that is what has kept it going for so long. /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />

I had his Episodes on DVD (the ones that were available), lost them in a Fire though last year.

My 2nd favorite Doctor is William Hartnell /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> – old school Doctor /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

I get a lot of flack for admitting I was never a huge fan of Tom Baker /unsure.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

I'm not sure why I've never watched the new series. I may have to check it out /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Nothing wrong with McCoy.

I think the reason Tom Baker was my favorite at the time was because

1. He was my initial exposure to the show.

2. PBS played the hell out of his run until the show was eventually canceled.

Sorry to hear about the fire BTW.

As for me, if MK's house is burning down, the last thing I will do is chuck my small collection of Doctor Who DVD's out the back door.

I always picture myself running around during a fire and saving worthless **** when I should be more worried about my own life.

I got sick of it.

As for the fire, I always knew what I would do if there was a fire. I would

save my children, my pets, grab the strong box with all the important papers

and the box of pictures.

When the real fire happened, I got my kids out, grabbed the strong box

and got out. My oldest ran back into the house to try to save the cats

and had to be dragged out. I never even thought about my pictures.

In the end one cat died, one cat survived, my pics actually made it

because the fire didn't get to the room they were in. Lost almost

everything else though. But most important I didn't lose my children,

in the end that's all that matters.

I like the new series a lot. They keep the special effects down and pay homage still to the cheesy characters and creatures from the original series.

So, I watched most of The Waters of Mars episode last night.

SPOILERS!!!

The Doctor became one arrogant SOB there at the end, and even though I hated to seeing Captain Adelaide Brooke die, it showed the Doctor that he should not mess with the time line. Yes, he is the last remaining Time Lord, but the Laws of Time were established for a reason.

I look forward to the The End of Time episode, first part of which will be shown on BBC America next Saturday, as it features one of my all time favorite Doctor Who villains, The Master.

I remember the Tom Baker episodes on PBS.

Pre Cable TV (for our hickerbillie town), PBS was on the little known UHF band in our area. I was messing with the TV one day and happened to tune it (channel 35) in. I thought I had discovered a secret TV station. I watched Doctor Who, In Search of, The Electric Company… I tried to show my friends but they all thought I was weird for being a 5th grader and digging Master Piece Theatre. /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

I never was a crowd follower and despite being teased for not doting on C.H.I.P.s as much as my peers at the time; I am more than happy with the fond memories such shows bring me now.

Doctor Who became cool for me (back in the 80's) as soon as I found out Douglas Addams was a writer on the show. I've watched it off and on but I really liked the recent episodes. I'm a bit behind though and haven't watched since last Christmas.

I have seen all of the available episodes from the beginning and have them on VHS, DVD and on hard drive. esp the last four seasons and the specia;s this year.

Considering that I invested in UK formatted materials and playback devices, y0u might say I am kinda hooked.

I started in the 80s with Tom Baker. but my favorite is Jon Pertwee, the third Doctor.

At the time, the PBS station in Phoenix played thru the Baker era and then proceeded thru the rest of the series, as available, in sequence. When Lionheart, the BBC co, raised the licensing prices the episodes evaporated like water under the AZ sunl

I saw a few episodes 0f the classic series on BBCA, but decided t0 get the entire series before it disappeared and so hunted thru the various EBAY adds untill I had them all.

Needless to say, I still watch the Doctor whenever the mood strikes me.
