I have finished the "City of Ember" series by Jeanne DuPrau. These books are phenomenal. There was a movie in 2008 based on the first book, "City of Ember" but it's so much better in written form.

I encourage all parents of late adolescence / early teens to read this as a family. They induce thoughts, what ifs.., ideas and more discussions. Our family had a good time taking turns reading, and discussing it over dinner, no joke. We really loved them, and it was great to have a common interest to discuss.

The third book, "Prophet of Yonwood" is a bit odd and hard to get through, however it helps you with the fourth and final book "Diamond of Darkhold". Definitely check these books out. WOW!
