The Busby Stoop Chair, also known as the chair of death, now hangs on a wall in the Thirsk Museum so that no one can sit in it. Why? Because according to legend, the stoop chair has killed everyone who sits in it. It is supposedly cursed so that all who sit in it die.

Here's some information. What do you think? Would you sit in it, or would you rather not risk it??

So, what if a ghost accidentally sits in it?

Are they doubly dead? /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Uh-oh, am I going to have bad things happen to me for mocking the chair now? /unsure.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

I'm not sure that I put any creedence into it, but then again, I'm not going to stand in line to sit in it either. /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

I would sit in it…I believe we create our own curses upon ourselves.

I tend to think that you give power to things like the chair with fear – which is a powerful emotion. If you approach it without fear (which may be hard to do if you've heard all of the stories) then there will be no self-fulfilling prophecy. Just my humble opinion. Not that you asked.

We all die at some time so that can be said about any chair, couch, sofa, recliner, Laz-e-boy, computer chair, stool or anything else you can put your rear end on. TVs don't help much either.

Well that is certainly one of the things that happens with paranormal belief. It's called confirmation bias or confirmatory bias. We only remember those things that confirm a belief, myth, legend, story. Things that don't confirm it aren't notable so we don't remember.

I think it's how haunted we are, not always how haunted an object is. /dry.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />

For instance, I'm haunted right now by those two margaritas I had with dinner last night. /ohmy.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
