OfflineHello PUG!
I am very new to the community, but not to the paranormal. I was listening to a recent podcast where you interviewed Jason about the Dibbuk Box. In the podcast Jason spoke about the ability to trap a spirit or entity inside of something like this Dibbuk Box. My first thought at this was – what if we could catch a remove negative spirits from the houses we investigate? Please understand, I am not a random ghostbuster fan boy, but I think that if this was possible it would change the way we think about "hauntings". Imagine being able to remove a negative entity from a household that was being terrorized, and then being able to confidently say 'Your house is clean'.
Just a thought that I wanted to share and hopefully get some feedback on.
Thanks,
-Ryan

Interesting idea. Though I'd wonder what they would do with the negative once it was caught.

OfflineKinda like in Ghostbusters. Remove the ghost and put it into a containment field. Interesting idea. It's one that requires more information about what ghosts are and made of before making a container.
LOL Didn't the containment field break in the movie or get shut off? I'll have to go watch it again. It's been a long time. All I can recall is stay puft, slimer, the freaky librarian and a dancing slime toaster, lol.

Hi Ryan: Welcome to PUG. Glad you are with us.
The Dibbuk Box raises more questions than it answers, doesn't it? That is why we were so fascinated with the story, and why we featured it in our magazine and podcast. We are actually in communication with the first purchaser of the box (two owners before Jason), and I think we are planning a podcast with him soon.
As for trapping a spirit – yeah – I have never been clear how they did it. Some kind of a ceremony from the sounds of it. I believe that it is strongly related to Kabbalaism and some of the rituals and rites associated with it.
Interesting thoughts!

I don't know why but right now I am thinking of those "ghost in a bottle" things. I know that is a marketing gimmick to make money – but imagine if you actually could capture the ghosts in a bottle and sell them.

Um, can I order one who compulsively likes to clean? Ooh, and cook. LOL. How great would that be?
Though, I could see people buying them, letting them out, just so their house would be haunted. Or, we could start a ghost wildlife preserve and free them all. /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Actually – that is an experiment I would love to do. Have a bunch of people order a ghost in a bottle. Break it. See what happens.
Yeah – I'd take a compulsive cleaner myself. And maybe one who adores doing laundry.

LOL Wouldn't we be surprised when things really do come flying out, pissed about being shoved into a bottle and sold. I know that's not how I want to spend the afterlife. In fact, I think I'll look to haunt a human who likes to clean, /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Depends on the bottle – if it was a bottle of booze – I might enjoy it.
Yeah – the ghost in a bottle thing – if there were actually souls in there – is pretty offensive when you think about it, isn't it?

Good thinking. Can I change my answer? Oh, or can I pick a barrel of wine? Something a little bigger, lol. Though, they'd have to let me out sometime. I have a list of people I plan on haunting, should the opportunity arise. /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
Yeah, realistically, it would be offensive to trap ghosts like that, especially since we don't have a solid understanding of their existence.

OfflineHi Ryan and welcome to Paranormal Underground.
Interesting question. If we actually understood the makeup of "spirits" and could contain them at will, I have a queston to answer yours. What would be the repercussions of those actions?
Would or could these spirits coincide together or would they have to be separated like in 13 ghosts? Would they be angered or would they exist in harmony? If they are in fact intelligent, would they figure out how to escape and wreak havoc on the folks that incarcerated them? If they are merely imprints like we believe residual haunts are, would they even know the others were in the area with them?
Got me thinking…I'll do Karen's laundry when I'm dead, just not the bathrooms!
Offlinedid anyone learn anything--lol the movie 13 th ghost (with monk) shows how pissed they get. Would you trust one with a feather duster—in a maid outfit ????
LOL Very good point.

Hi All:
I am out of Russia, wonderful history and buildings – scary government – glad to be out. But, I am still in Europe – Scotland – full of a rich past. Back to the post: If you mean do a podcast with Kevin Mannis, as the original buyer – |I think he could give additional information on how an item can contain a spirit.
Good luck,
Jason
