OfflineI see them when my mascara gets clumpy!
The first time it happened, I was a little freaked.
Then laughed at myself, after I realized it was my eye makeup!

I don't have that particular problem, but I could see how it could happen! /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
OfflineI saw several "shadow people" when I lived at my mom's house. Our neighbors had those big security lights out, so my room was slightly lit at night. Now I knew every item in my room. Several times there were things for lack of a better word sitting in the corners where it was dark. They were darker than the dark corner. Answer to this query?…I don't have one!
OfflineOkay. I went through several hundred of my photographs and found several shots of a "shadow." Posted in the Photograph Gallery, is a shot I took years ago while I was still living in L.A. There are two shots: one before (for reference) and one with the shadow. Please read the accompanying story and description.
But, in advance, I will tell you this. The camera I was using at the time did NOT have a camera strap. There is no furniture where this shadow showed up. Also, you can see that "shadow" is itself giving off a small shadow.
Be kind. Be gentle. Ask any questions you may have, and I will answer them honestly.

I have this theory, and we as a team have been discussing it since a photo came out of an investigation we had recently. This is my view, and now our team's possible thought, on how spirits manifest. Within this theory, and having experimented with it, I fully believe that not all shadow people are "negative evil entities" as some teams beliefs would have you believing. I believe that in that … flickering, fluorescent light bulb moment discussed below, is where you're going to find a lot of the "shadow" people.
As a medium, I firmly believe that not all shadow people are evil because they're waiting for those they are here to see to be ready to interpret and receive them. I believe that they hang in the shadows, waiting for their loved one to be ready for them to manifest.
Every team, expert, "adviser" out there right now is saying that all light anomalies on digital photos is from a longer shutter speed. Granted, I respect that as it's been proven time and time again. However, I disagree with the word usage "all".
I believe it takes spirits longer than 1.3 second shutter speed to manifest themselves enough to show up in a photo; digital or manual. Think about some of the more popular, non hoaxed, photographs from the early 1900s, that was some long exposure time right there.
I believe that there are steps missing in this puzzle, that we all hear about sounds, feelings, and shadows.. then we have battery drainage….. then poof full bodied manifestation.. .. I feel that with patience, and determination, we will be able to document a "rip in the veil".. so to speak. If we just wait it out, and when EMF spikes, Temp. drops, and batteries start to drain.. start a slow shutter speed photo to see what happens.
I believe the spirits are using the electronics to "charge their own battery" if you will. So that they can pull it in, then push it out to manifest. I believe it takes longer than a split second to do so.
It's like a fluorescent light. You turn it on and it flickers, flickers some more, shutters then comes on full charge. It has to pull the electricity around it to illuminate. What if spirits are the same way. Wouldn't it be beneficial to start experimenting, as our team has been, with longer shutter speeds?
1. Must use a tripod to eliminate possible hand jostling, movement, etc.
2. As little as reflective and external light as possible to eliminate light trails.
3. Minimum of four second shutter speeds to capture the area in a time lapse process.
4. Start using the Tesla Coil more often on these investigations; and vocally guide the spirits to use the energy from it.
We are going to continue working on this, and experimenting. As a friend just said to me tonight "Forget about any judgment or ridicule…If everyone kept quiet about their theories or ideas, we wouldn't have milk. You know that guy that said, "Hey let's pull on these things and drink what comes out.." got ridiculed, but look now how much milk we drink…"
I am just putting our theory out there, and going to continue working on it.

I find this whole line of thought very interesting. I will definitely try this technique since I:
A. Have a tripod
B. DO believe spirits exist
C. Have the desire to put this into practice
I will try it in San Diego's Old Town next weekend when we are there, if we have any of the above anomalies, and show the results.

OfflineActually, Karen, I have photographed a dark object, several times, on the Gettysburg battlefield. Once, immediately after taking one of the photographs, I used my digital recorder to see if "it" had anything to say. Several profanities were recorded.
Okay, I know, I will dig up the pictures and post them in the gallery!

Who was being profane the dark object? Maybe it was the flash that ticked them off, I know if someone blasted a photo in my eyes I might use a few choice pleasentries.

I recall seeing a TV show that featured a guy who photographed the battlefield in the daytime, but used an arrangement of filters to simulate night. He took a series of photos a few seconds apart, and some of the photos (he said it takes thousands of shots to get a ghost) showed some really interesting figures that appeared to be Civil War soldiers moving around the battlefield.
I would have been more impressed if there were simultaneous photos from a non-filtered camera.
I've never heard/read anything else about this particular person or his method, and I've not seen his photos published anywhere – which is suspicious.
Are you aware of this photographer?

The program you refer to is one of Mark Nesbitt's productions, starring Mark Nesbitt. Since this is a public forum, I will keep my comments about Nesbitt to myself. He is well known in Gettysburg.
The "photographer" you are referring to is Scott Crownover. His site is http://www.ghostsrus.com.

OfflineI once saw a shadow person. It was the strangest thing. I thought it was my dad at first, but realized it was the middle of the day and I was outside. It was just a few feet from me and when I went to follow him he turned a corner and literally seconds after I turned it too and he was gone. There was no where to go though, it was a dead end. It confused me more then anything else.
OfflineWhen I was 7 I woke up in the wee hours of the night to see a very short shadowy figure standing in my doorway. The lights from outside shone thru the living room windows and this midget of a shadow blocked out the light. I could not see thru it and it stood there not moving. When i screamed for my mother it seemed to walk backwards and then my mother turned on the lights and *poof* it was gone….10 years later my younger brother, who moved in to my old room when i changed rooms to the front part of the house, were sitting around telling stories one night and he started telling a story about this short shadowy figure standing in his doorway. i asked him to describe it and he nailed the same description of what i had seen so many years ago. It seemed to be wearing like a cloak and a hood or a hat and It was about 4 ft tall. So many things happened in that house we grew up in including knocking on the walls, chairs moving, footsteps creeaking down the hallways all hours of the night, and the feeling of terrible dread everytime we walked into our old bedroom. For several years after we moved out of that house i would have terrible nightmares of still living there and something trying to kill us, chase us, drown us amongst other horrid things a child should NEVER dream about. I now live 2 blocks away from that old house and want so badly to ask the new owners if i could come in and see if i still feel that dread in that bedroom. maybe one day ill get the courage to do so.
