On August 18th 2011 I had gone into the bunk room at around 1am and just laid down in my bunk when I noticed a dark figure standing in the corner opposite of where my bunk was. After a good 5 minutes his dark silhouette looking figure started to approach my bunk, I thought it was one of the other firefighters coming over to play some kinda prank on me so I prepared to roll out of the other side of bunk. This Shadow figure of a man walked up to my bunk leaned over as if it where looking to see if I was asleep. The shadow figure remained in this position for about a minute and then proceeded to walk back to the corner from which it came. I then sat up and said "I see you asshole, your not slick" It just stool there in the corner not moving so I said " go back to bed, it's late " then got up and walked over to where it was standing fully expecting to find one of my colleges standing there when I got with in 5 feet from the silhouette, it just desolved before my eyes.

On April 10th 2012 I was working night shift again when a fellow fire fighter frantically woke me up at approximately 3:30am say that he saw the shadow figure walk from across the bunkroom and past my bunk, I thought I was dreaming and when I woke up at 6 am and went down to the kitchen to get my morning cup of coffee, I asked if he had woken me up in the middle of the night or was I dreaming and he got all excited and proceeded to tell what he had seen.

Once the word of the shadow figure in the bunk room had got around to all 4 shifts, a total of 9 other firefighters came forward to tell their stories of the shadow man in the bunk room. There are 4 fire fighters from other fire houses that where detailed to our fire house who had come forth with their experiences with the shadow man in the bunk room. Several members will no longer sleep in the bunk room and two have since transfered to a different firehouse.

The powers that be will not grant me permission to setup a DVR and IR cameras in the bunk room and let them run for several nights for a month and see if I can capture this shadow anomaly. After doing some research, I found that there had been one documented death at our firehouse back in 1928 and the our firehouse is build on the remains of the great Baltimore fire of 1904

1. They believe they are protecting personal property
2. They don't want to let go of people or things
3. Change is scary, so it's easier to stick with the known
4. They made a promise and they feel they have't fulfilled it yet
5. They want to ensure their loved ones will be okay
6. They are afraid they did something so terrible in life they will go to hell if they move on
7. They fear the unknown

Probably many others, as well, but I'd need coffee to really come up with them.

On a side note, it makes me sad to think of those spirits who get stuck here and can't move on.

I really think that some ghosts may be in what we think of as hell. What could be worse than being stuck in a state where no one can see or hear you, especially if you're trapped in a place where you did something evil? I'm thinking especially about ghosts in prisons, at murder scenes, etc. In fact, some EVP's I've heard have said that they are in hell.

I'm certainly not saying that this is true. It's just something I ponder.

What bothers me is that, if this is the case, why do spirits maintain their earthly persona when communicating with sensitives? If they've passed on, then surely their real persona should surface?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I feel that the spirits do have similar personas to what existed when they were in human form. Most people are friendly as are the spirits that I encountered. Except for a few exceptions, most of the spirits in my home are friendly. My neighbor who died many years ago was a very friendly and helpful person. I believe that he visited my home in spirit form and continued to help me for some time.

When I share my experiences with others, they share their experiences with me. One person mentioned a house where a very unfriendly and just plain mean person lived. After he died, his spirit remained in the house and caused many frightening episodes for those who visited. In one case, the unfriendly spirit ran off some house remodelers who refused to go back and finish the work.

Others shared stories about loved ones who died and who in spirit form came back for a visit. These spirits gave some signs that they were there and didn't in any way try to frighten anyone. I grieved the loss of my brother who gave me a sign that all is alright. My brother was also my best friend and travel companion. When we traveled together, I always took $100 bills that I stashed in a zippered compartment inside of my belt. I keep a few $100 bills stashed away in my home. One day, I found a $100 bill on top of a cardboard box in my living room. How in the heck did it get there? I don't think the other spirits were responsible. Some of those spirits like to take my things and hide them. My thoughts were that it was a sign from my brother.

Like most people, most spirits are friendly and mean no harm. I fear evil and troubled people. Spirits can also be evil or troubled. It is these evil or troubled spirits that I fear. These evil or troubled spirits have frightened me in the past.

That being said, I think the simplest explanation for what you're asking is this: The easiest way to make someone recognize you is by presenting as you did in life. Therefore, I'd guess that one of three things is happening.

1. A spirit is presenting to someone so they are recognized

2. A fake medium is picking up on cues from the person they are "reading" using cold reading techniques and using that information to convey a personality their mark will recognize.

3. Some aspect or energy of what was once that human being remains as an imprint, and the sensitive picks up on the energetic imprint, which is an imprint of the human being that spirit was in life, but not necessarily who they are in another realm.

I often read that when person passes to spirit, they enter a realm that is neutral and all knowing and hang around (playing Grand Theft Auto and stuff), waiting for their next re-incarnation.

My belief is that ESP, channeling, clairvoyance, telepathy, dreams that come true and other strange happenings are all connected to the spirit world. I sometimes wonder where my thoughts come from.

I believe in UFOs and life on distant planets light years away. Our sun is a star. Looking at the night skies, I see millions of stars and wonder what planets with life orbit around those distant suns. I was never abducted by aliens or saw a UFO described by many. Years ago around the mid 1960s, I saw something up in the night sky that didn't make sense at all. It wasn't any aircraft or firefly that I would be familiar with. This blinking light that resembled the strobe light of an aircraft in the night skies went in a straight line and several times made sharp 90 degree turns. Aircraft that I am familiar will change directions in wide curves.

My desktop computer is located in my spare bedroom and I have my cat's perch located next to my chair. My cat comes to join me when I spend an hour or two doing online research. When my cat comes to visit, I can see her walking toward me in my side vision. There have been a few times that I turned my head to look directly at her but she was not there. The same for the few times that she would rub herself against my leg and I would look down to pet her and she was not there. This has been happening for a couple of weeks now. It must have been one of the friendly spirits letting me know of its presence.
