OfflineWould not the ghosts, just be stuck in their time period (history) but in our perception?
I think that it'd be the other way around. Their perception would be in their own time period, however, it is happening in your own time period, because you can witness it. Also, it would explain how some can seem to answer a question or make an observation, such as a living person's name that happens to be there.
I don't think ghosts, can move along time at free will. either.
People report ghosts wearing a specific time period of clothing, usually believed to be from the time period the person was living in.
I tend to believe that ghosts probably appear how they see themselves. Shadows, light, time period clothing, mist, etc. Though there is no facts to back that up. It just seems the probable conclusion to me right now.
Reports of the ghost doing certain activities they did during their life, or evp's in certain languages, of people who would have been there at the time.
Is there in our current dimension some type of window, that opens quickly and shuts for a glimpse into them and their time period?
Are we getting a glimpse of another time or dimension?
I've wondered if we trigger this, by investigating a certain place, looking into the history, thinking about someone who has passed, etc.
Can they feel us reaching out?
Well as far as current science and logic go, you can't look into the past like that, because the past has already happened. You can't see into the future, because it hasn't happened yet. To explain clairvoyance if real, would be the future seen is merely a probability. I believe with Quantum Mechanics, time travel MAY be able to be explained by seeing a different, but similar timeline elsewhere, even if seems to be in the past or not. If that is the case, then it would be a different dimension or reality depending on how you'd word it. The people in them would not actually be the person, but it could be similar to someone here.
The fallacy with that is the question that begs: "Then how come we only seem to be able to interact with people that have passed?" Of course you could theorize dopplegangers, however, those aren't frequently reported – at all.
If you take into account GettysburgLady's communication with her spirit guide, then it could make sense that spirits do not operate in our own dimension normally, but can somehow interact with it.
For me isn't the question of whether or not there is passage of time for them, but why do some not perceive it and some do? And for the ones that do, then what are they still doing around here?
OfflineI've never heard of that happening. Maybe now that we've talked about it, you can expect to hear from yourself soon

That's it! I'm doing an EVP session with my future self who's died and come back to visit my former live self.

I have a headache /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' /> I just throw things around and try to use logic. You know, the more logic I try to use in my thinking, it just becomes illogical. /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' /> I really have more questions, and those questions lead to more questions, more so than thinking about this topic. Everything is based on a theory in paranormal. At times it's so hard to apply logic, to what is unknown. Maybe we are just currently incapable of understanding, or it's not meant to be.
I really like others viewpoints.
OfflineOkay, I am like Heidi, I have a headache, but I will throw my two cents in as well. Personally, I believe that the soul/spirit survives after the body is dead, therefore departing to a spirit-world, or at least moving into a spiritual state, because it has "shed this body," it's former abode. Since our world is tied to "time," and all of its constraints, the spirit-world has no such constraints, even though they are aware of the "time in which living people are dwelling." Kind of like seeing a star explode that is 1 million light-years from earth. Even though we are watching the explosion "now," in "our present time," the light from the explosion took 1 million years to reach us, therefore we are watching an event which took place 1 million years ago.
Got Aspirin? /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />
Afterthought: "Sometimes, mum, the world of the dead gets mixed up with the world of the living." ~ quote by the character, Bertha Mills in the movie, "The Others."

Yes, I really dont think that Ghosts can keep track of time. Like I said, the living can easily lose track
of what day it is, so i doubt the a spirit that has been dead for decades or even hundreds of years
has been keeping track of time. So asking a ghost "how long have you been dead?" seems like a
silly question to me. Perhaps they should try "when did you die?" instead. Just my thoughts though /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />
Sorry, no aspirin, but I have Tylenol…
oh, and welcome to PUG MidnightPoet

It's okay, my aspirin will do, although, "Extra-Strength Excedrin PM" is awesome when you have a really bad one! Are you a "Tigger?" And, guess what? I am from the Cincinnati area(Northern Kentucky). But, even though I love the Reds, I also love the "Red Sox," and have since 1975. Go Sox!!!
Oh, and thank you! Glad to be here! /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
