I apologize for putting up yet another post, but I don't have anyone else to talk to about these things.

I have a question for everyone on this site: Have any of you had an experience like this?

Today I locked the front door and dropped the key and the fob it's on in the pocket of my purse. I immediately realized that I had forgotten something and pulled the fob out of my purse. They key wasn't on the ring. This wouldn't be strange at all except the ring was completely intact. For the life of me I cannot figure out how the key came off the ring without the ring being opened or broken. As God is my witness, it was as if the ring had somehow passed through the key.

This made me think of another experience I had years ago when we were living in Utah. My husband and I were in a store when suddenly I felt my earring fly out of my ear. It was almost like someone had knocked it out. It flew across the store and ended up under a shelving unit which had to be moved to get my earring out. I found out later that the building the store was in has a history of hauntings, but that isn't the interesting part of the story.

The weird part was that the earring back was on the post when I picked it up! I had been wearing those earrings all day and everyone who wears post earrings knows that there's no way the earring will fit through your ear with the back on the post far enough to stay in for even a short while. Besides, I had been trying on clothes – if the earring was in my ear with the post still up against the earring it would have been pulled out the first time I pulled a sweater on and then off over my head. Try it if you don't believe me. And the back wasn't right up against the earring, but further back. So WTH? Did the earring just pass through my ear somehow?

I witnessed the exact same thing with my niece recently. All three of my brother's daughters and I had been shopping all day for some back to school clothes (I love being an aunt!). The eldest girl was sitting with me on an ottoman while her younger sisters tried on clothes. All of a sudden her earring fell out of her ear and when she picked it up out of her lap, the back was on it. She had been wearing them for hours and they were quite heavy, so there's no way they would have stayed in her ear if she had put them on with the back on against the earring, especially with her pulling clothes on and off over her head all day. Again, WTH? She and I just shrugged it off at the time, but now I wonder.

I've been doing some reading on the net and it seems stuff like this happens all the time. A guy drops a guitar pick but can't find it anywhere. Later he finds it on the basement floor directly below where he dropped it on the floor above. A kid is bouncing a ball on the living room wall and it bounces funny and he can't find it. Later it's found in the yard right outside the living room wall. Etc., etc.

I don't think these things are "paranormal" in the sense of ghosts being involved. But it would appear that somehow the laws of physics bend sometimes. It seems that objects may somehow be able to pass through things like floors, walls, or in my case, key rings and ears.

I'm just curious if anyone else has ever had an experience like these or if you have any theories about what is happening. Are these objects somehow losing structural integrity for a very brief moment? Or did my niece and I lose structural integrity in our ears for a moment? I guess I should point out that this niece has an extensive history of paranormal activity just like her aunt, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

This isn't a frightening thing at all, but it sure is a puzzler. Any input is welcome. I'll save you the time and effort if you're going to tell me to get my eyes checked or see a shrink. We'll take those as a given. /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Well once again, you're not alone. Throughout my 29 years I've had three circumstances that stand out in my mind of this happening. Twice with an earring that fell out of my ear, and like you said, still had the back on it when found. This phenomena happened once when I was a child, and again as an older teen. The last time was with a key- and it's bazaar, because the same thing happened. I had JUST put a new house key on my keychain, left the house and went shopping. When I got home, it wasn't on the key chain- it was in my purse where I had kept my keys while shopping- but my key chain was super sturdy and there was no reason for it to come off on it's own. While it made no sense, I just shrugged it off at the time, however, every time was a total "what the heck" moment. It made no sense and I just told myself that it couldn't be and continued on with life.

That's interesting about the other stories you've read online. I'll have to look around- this is definitely not something I've ever done research on- just ignoring lol.

Once again it's good to know that I'm not alone. I think lots of people have had experiences like this but we all just brush them off because, like you say, we think that it couldn't be true. When you think about it, it is absolutely amazing what people are capable of ignoring or shrugging off, isn't it? I probably wouldn't have thought twice about the key, other than what the heck?, if I hadn't been experiencing so many disappearing objects when it happened.

It's thought provoking that the objects involved in our experiences were all metal, isn't it?

Very strange and intriguing. Both keys and earrings are very personal and intimate objects to each of us. Since both Kat and Jilla have a history of paranormal activity around them (and Kat's niece, too) I would wager that there was something decidedly paranormal at work here since physics has few exceptions to their rules. Post earrings can not leave an earlobe without the back taken/ falling off'. The fact that the earring was found with the back still in place is just plain weird. Definitely not normal!

I was excited when I saw your post. I thought maybe you had an experience to share or a possible explanation for me. Phooey.

I really wish someone could give me a rational explanation for these events. They're not scary or anything but they do kind of mess with reality as I know it. Keys are not supposed to pass through key rings and earrings are not supposed to pass through earlobes. It's just not right. /angry.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I do like the clip, though. God only knows what would fall out of my rugs if I ever actually took them outside and beat them. /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />
