Related to:

The Younger Brothers (Also knows as the James-Younger gang when they rode with Jessie James)

I have a wanted poster from the Youngers handed down in my family.

Regan, this sent chills up my spine since at this moment my husband is watching American Outlaw. Its a pretty cheesy contemporary story of the Gang, but The Big Wolf watches it every time it is on TV! My husband is a great fan of your ancestors!

This isn't my "brush with greatness", it's my sons /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

My son is friends with Kris Williams' sister Kelly.

A few weeks ago Kris came and hung out with them.

She told him a few things I'm not suppose to share /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

She is coming back to town for the 4th of July and

she is suppose to be bringing me an autograph.

What a fun thread, lol. The only names I can drop are genre fiction writers, some really super famous like Nora Roberts, that I met at booksigning events I did at national conferences. That and cover models you'll find in magazines and on book covers, and people whose names are big in the publishing industry.

I don't know how I forgot this one. Once I worked a booth at the Houseware's Show at McCormick Place in Chicago. The booth featured hand-cranked meat-grinders and the reason I was there was long and convoluted. Anyway, there were a number of Amish folk interested in the devices, and then who strolls up to the booth but Brooke Shields.

Now I was never a fan, but the woman, sans make up was stunning! I can't recall the conversation but I'd bet I wasn't my charming self. The only thing I can tell you for sure is that she is not six-feet tall. Maybe 5-10, maybe. She wore flats and I'm about that height.

Still, wow.

There is not a Nora Roberts book that I haven't read! She lives about 45 minutes from Gettysburg. I'm impressed.

I was working in a music store in NJ and Jordan McKnight from New Kids on the Block was signing his new solo cd about 10 years back. It was a crazy scene and he stayed a few hours later then he was scheduled to make sure everyone who waited in line got an autograph and or picture with him (free). After the last person had gone he was willing to sign stuff for the employees so I went and grabbed a black sabbath cd that i'd been wanting for some time. He thought it really funny and was going to sign but his handler was not so humorous and kicked me out of line. Oh well.

My ex-wife's (ex) best friend's cousin is Frankie Valli. She's always been nice to me, so I'll take her word for it. Anyone familiar with Sylvia Seegrist? Delaware County, near Philly area? She killed 3, injured 7 at the local mall here (Springfield Mall), back in '85. I was downstairs wondering why everyone seemed to be running for their lives after she snapped. All the stores quickly shut their roll-down doors, I was in the record store (Sam Goody I think). One of my best friends, growing up, Tom, was childhood friends with Jeff LaBarr who lived 2 doors away from him. We used go to his house to wake and bake in the mornings of our last summer in High School. Our senior year Jeff played bass for the group that won 1st place for the Battle Of The Bands. One of the judges was Jon Bon Jovi. Jeff went on to play bass for Cinderella. Other Alumnus of my High School (Upper Darby) prior to me were Harry Chapin, and Todd Rundgren. In my senior year a really pretty freshman girl, out of the blue, signed my yearbook asking me to "come visit" her. I regret not making the attempt, I knew nothing of what her mind was capable of. She went on to become assistant to Stephen King (Robin Firth) and consultant for the illustrated Dark Tower adaptation. I have one more that can put me 4 degrees from Kevin Bacon.

I am from the Delaware Valley originally and my sister worked in the Macy's at the Springfield Mall and was there that day. My entire family was flipping out until she called a few folks to let them know she was okay.

Yes, it was an intense moment. Here's an old Philly name: Jerry Robbins, owner of the jewelry store, "Rocks at Robbins… 8th and Walnut". I did some plumbing at his place on Pine st. in Philly. In 95, I was stationed at San Diego for welding and firefighting school (HT "A" school) around the time of the Comic-con. I got to shake hands with Mickey Spillane, Hard boiled detective novelist. Author of "I, The Jury", that introduced Mike Hammer, PI. A good tough guy handshake. Another Upper Darby graduate, years after me was Tina Fey. (Okay, stay with me, I'm setting up 4 degrees to Kevin Bacon) In her movie "Mean Girls", a character handing out, I think candy canes, repeats the name Glen Coco who, it is revealed in the commentary track, is a family friend of Tina Fey's in real life. Glen Coco graduated a year before me from Upper Darby, and was in one of my advanced classes. He was a good cartoonist.(Also my brothers ex-wife dated Glen before she met my brother) Tina Fey was in: "Man of the Year", with Laura Linney, who was in "Mystic River" with Kevin Bacon. It's weird, because I remember talking to Glen about the theory of 6 degrees of seperation, and another idea I shared with him that he had me sign a non-disclosure agreement for. I might elaborate on that in the thread for dumbest thing I ever did in my life.

OMG! A name-drop just popped into my head.

When I was in high school, I was working at one of the Pepsi carts at Knott's Berry Farm, and I looked up at a guest approaching my window.

It was Tina Yothers. No, really! You know, from Family Ties. /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

We had a conversation about a bee that I had just trapped under a paper cup. And then she ordered a Pepsi. /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

I only have one personal brush that I can think of and it's pathetic /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Most people probably have never heard of Jack Barlow. He was a country singer,

and if you're old enough to remember the Big Red commercials with the guy with

the deep voice saying: Big Red, Big Red Gum. Well, that was him.

one day I came home from school and he was sitting in my kitchen talking

to my Grammy /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' /> . My Uncle was a Disc Jokey in the 70s and my Gram

was a big Jack Barlow fan so my Uncle got him to come and visit her.

pathetic I know, but it's all I got haha

I have a few people I have met, alot of them were at the Long Beach Grand Prix.

My husband and I are friends with Jackie Jackson's son & daughter. We have met Jackie, tito's sons, rebbie, jermaine's children and there were a few others can't remember the names. Not too long ago we were at the Encino home, very nice and great to see the home.

We know Rampage Jackson, met him 2 years ago at the Dub show, nice guy. He is very down to earth but a tad scary because he is so big.

I once attended a church service on Martin Luther King Day (actually the Sunday before) given by his cousin, the Rev. Charles King. What a remarkable man – I talked with him a bit and he absolutely exuded love. I don't know that I've ever met anyone I can say that about before or since, but this man did.

I once chased Rudy Guiliani up and down Main Street /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

true story haha

okay, more specifically it was a Christmas Stroll, Main St

is blocked off for the celebration and Rudy was campaiging

(I live in New Hampshire). So I chased him around trying to

get a good picture. He did eventually shake my son's hand

and my camera didn't catch the pic /sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> oh well.

A name drop has popped into my head as the result of another thread. It is actually Jim's name drop, but as you all have figured out, he's just so **** modest….

My beloved husband (TheJybian) hit on the then mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. He was up working on their dookie farm (or something along those lines) when he saw a "hot" woman and tried a little Charlie Hustle. Mrs. Palin was, unfortunately for Jim (or maybe fortunately) married with future teen-aged mothers to raise, and could already see Russia from her house.

How many beers did he have in him?
