And, the answer is **Drum Roll** please:

4. George Washington

A Union General, and several officers, and hundreds of soldiers insist that George Washington on horseback showed them the right way to go at a fork at the roads on the way to Gettysburg, PA. The 20th Maine Division arrived at Gettysburg in time to help capture a very strategic area of the battlefield called Little Round Top.

LOL! Yes, that is one version.

July 1, 1863 – The Fifth Corps arrives in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain and the 20th Maine lay down by the road to get some rest only to receive urgent orders: “Get up and march to Gettysburg!” From Through Blood and Fire at Gettysburg by Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain (Colonel of the 20th ME at the time of the battle):

“At a turn of the road a staff officer, with an air of authority, told each colonel as he came riding up, that McClellan was in command again [rumor], and riding ahead of us on the road. Then wild cheers rolled from the crowding column into the brooding sky, and the earth shook under the quickened tread. Now from a dark angle of the roadside came a whisper, whether from earthly or unearthly voice one cannot feel quite sure, that the august form of Washington had been seen that afternoon at sunset riding over the Gettysburg hills. Let no one smile at me! I half believed it myself -- so did the powers of the other world draw nigh!”

This casual comment by Chamberlain, ‘so did the powers of the other world draw nigh,’ intimates the first real ghost story of Gettysburg. Washington also was claimed to have been seen on Little Round Top at the crucial moment of the bayonet charge. Rumors always ran rampant amongst anxious troops during a time where there was literally no communication except by men riding by on horseback. Clearly a case of a rumor being repeated turning into fact down through the years.

Gotta love it!

Andrew Jackson?

And, the answer is **Drum Roll** please!

Andrew Jackson.

Correct MK!

It seems that the Bell Witch, as the spirit was called, was not impressed in the slightest by Old Hickory's visit and threw dishes and furniture at him. The honorable Mr. Jackson was said to have left in quite a rush!

I think it's Blackbeard as well. We know that Captain Jack Sparrow is immortal or so he wishes.

Blackbeard

Very Good! Jack Sparrow is just a wanna be.

It has been said on moonlit nights that Blackbeard's headless shade can be seen swimming in the Ocracoke Island cove where Edward Teach (better known as Blackbeard died. In November 1718 after a tremendous sea battle with the British navy led by Lt. Robert Maynard. Blackbeard finally succumbed to five bullets and over 20 sword wounds. His head was hung on the British ship, but it was rumored that his headless body swam around the boat three times before sinking.

It is also said that sometimes a headless ghost holding a lantern can be seen wandering the local beaches looking for its head.
